I'm just reading 'The Shepherd's Crown', bought for me as a Christmas present. Despite it being his last book, it still holds together very well. It's a step up from 'Raising Steam' which didn't feel quite right due to the over-reliance on narrative to explain the very long periods of development involved with steam locomotives and railways.
