Another score worthy of revival on CD or isolated Blu-ray track is Alfred Newman and Cyril Mockridge's score for 1958'a THE GIFT OF LOVE. It received a nice Columbia LP release in 1958, but in mono only. I'm sure that hearing this score in stereo would be as much of a revelation as the recent stereo isolated track on Twilight Time's APRIL LOVE. The score features some fine orchestral arrangements of the title tune (written by Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster), some wonderfully poignant Newman cues, several re-workings of a theme from Newman's THE BLUEBIRD, and even a short brass quote from a DIARY OF ANNE FRANK cue. For anyone who liked A CERTAIN SMILE, this score is for you.

Speaking of ANNE FRANK, what are the chances of getting that released in full, or at least as a CD release of the old Fox LP?

Thank you. I just got a used copy on amazon.

I could have sworn that CD got yanked off the market almost immediately for one reason or another. Am I getting it confused with some other late '50s score?

At any rate, I'd still like to get the full score.

It's legit and was never "yanked".

About DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, maybe I'm thinking of another label. Wasn't this announced by Disques Cinemusique, and then withdrawn? Maybe that's what I was thinking of.

Anyway, back to the original topic... THE GIFT OF LOVE would be a welcome CD/Blu-ray release in stereo.

Seems unlikely LLL would tackle this on CD after A Certain Smile was disappointing sales-wise, but I wonder if there’s any chance of a Twilight Time isolated score on this one...

Yavar, this was one of my mom's favorite films from the 50's. She was such a huge Lauren Bacall fan.

We had the LP as I recall but I don't remember if it was a 78 or a 33 rpm. I would love to see this released as well.

Speaking of former Columbia records soundtracks - why not a complete stereo Affair to Remember?

Joe, do the complete stereo music-only tracks still exist? If so, that could be a marvelous release, as the original LP was in mono and the Australian LP re-release was actually in mono with a fake stereo reverb added to suggest a stereo release. The 1993 CD release on Epic/Sony, concurrent with the the related new film SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE was also in mono.

the soundtrack cd to Sleepless in Seattle uses the actual stereo fox soundtrack for ne of its pieces.
