What better way to celebrate this month’s 25th anniversary of Joe Dante’s Gremlins 2: The New Batch than with a Deluxe Edition of Jerry Goldsmith’s brilliant and manic score for this classic sequel. Gremlins 2 is one of Goldsmith’s most loved scores of the 90s and it’s so exciting to bring the score back for a new generation. Requests for this album have been coming in for years.
For Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Joe Dante was able to pull off that rarest achievement in movies — coming up with a sequel that not only lives up to the original but, arguably, even surpasses it.
Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) and Kate Beringer (Phoebe Cates) move to New York City and meet up with their Mogwai friend, Gizmo, when a series of accidents creates a new generation of diverse gremlins. Billy, Kate, and Gizmo must once again use all their experience to prevent the gremlins from taking over New York!

Well, I ordered this score (cool stuff), and decided to finally break down and get the first Gremlins score from ScreenArchives (I know, I procrastinated far too long).

Too bad you have to wade through 3 minutes of cartoon music to hear it!
Seriously though we can dig out the old soundtrack and just rip it from that. So all good!

"Gremlins 2" has always opened with Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny goofing around the Warner logo:

The End Credits also includes Daffy and Bugs goofing around, as well as Porky Pig. It's really great that the cartoon scoring (composed by Fred Steiner) made it to the CD but yes, perhaps it would've been better had it all been included at the end of the CD. Personally, I don't mind at all because in the film the cartoon music does precede everything else, but I can understand those who aren't keen on it.
Both "Gremlins" scores are marvelous, unique, and tremendous fun. The original Varese of "Gremlins 2" was the first CD I bought, sometime in 1992 or 1993, and only because I wanted a recording of the Gremlins theme and couldn't find the Geffen LP or cassette tape of the first film. As neat as the original album was, the complete score is WAY better than the original album assembly, and like everyone else I'm anxious to hear what was originally written for the bat gremlin.

I like the cartoon stuff. It segueing into Goldsmith's opening cue is the way I always hear it in my head so I'm glad it'll be preserved on CD.

They do indeed. If you take a look at the back cover art in the first entry of this thread, you'll see in teeny tiny print at the bottom of the back cover the composer credits for those pieces.
