Just been re-reading this thread. One I never got around to until now is Umberto - which was described as a Goblin-like band.

Here's a great cinematic track with a hilarious title.

Probably not exactly "on point" for this topic, but I was very pleased to see that Ruth White's "Short Circuits" album from 1971 has finally been released on CD (along with her other albums).

A longtime favorite -- I used to check this one out of the public library quite regularly back in the early 1970s!

Great news, purplemonkeydishwasher!

I've loved Ruth White's Flowers of Evil album since I found a used vinyl copy in the mid 1980s. Don't really know her other work too well. So glad to see re-releases!

And yeah, it's not quite the kind of electronica this thread is focused on. But I love it all, and hope others will give some a try.

Been a while since I last posted. And I've got another one of those new favorite artists - Nigel Mullaney!

I've been introduced to him by his albums on the DIN label. Here are a couple of samples from his latest, The Navigator.

The Silver Pillar

Beyond The Map's Edge

Very Tangerine Dreamy to my ears, with some of the big sounds of Vangelis - but distinctive enough to be more than influences. Really enjoy this.

Available on Bandcamp and all the usual digital places, vinyl sold out (got here too late).

Here's a new one on me: a terrific artist who goes by the name of Cosey Fanni Tutti (which is hilarious!).

She's done a documentary on Delia Derbyshire, the soundtrack of which will be released in a few weeks.

And she's got some great chops herself - try this for a "Mark Isham Invades Precinct 13 in 1983" vibe.

For those who like electronic horror scores, this artist is the ticket: Alone 1982

I've been enjoying his album Lost Cues II, with tracks like Red Floor, Head with Fangs, and The Cellar.

But they've got quite a few albums for when I'm in this kind of mood. Nothing new, but nicely done and doesn't outstay it's welcome. (Very few fans though, sadly)

Here's a taste

Awoken

Ok, this one isn't strictly new, just new to me.

Lately, YouTube has been feeding me a lot of electronic music cassettes from the 80's uploaded by well-meaning souls.

I've been introduced to many artists - here's one!

Steve Brenner - whose bandcamp site has his full discography available for cheap (I had to buy it to suport him).

This thread is so YouTube heavy, it killed my phone. I'm also struggling here on my laptop. I hope if and when we get to a new page, people would just post links instead, rather than embedding them. That being said, it's always nice to hear this stuff, so it deserves to live on.

I have no such issues. Do you have the videos all START automatically?

No. Thread takes about 30-45 seconds to load on my laptop. My iPhone tries and tries, but simply can't load, while battery drains. YouTube Overkill is a plague upon this earth.

Yeah I have no issues either on various devices, and a lotta folks like having the YouTube right on the site (in general, a small percentage of links get clicked on web pages, so that's why it's important for me to get the music on the site).

Sorry it doesn't work well for you.

Yeah, it's my problem. Partly due to the technical "slog" issues, and partly because I'm an old-school "word guy" in general, rather than inserting music clips. But if it's just me, I'll live with it.

It's just... maybe it's a problem that needs to be no problem. I don't know your technical setup, but like Sean, regardless of mobile or Desktop, this thread loads as fast as any other, and it's of course practical to have the YouTube clips at hand (if you are inclined to watch them), rather than leave the site to watch them elsewhere.

If it slogs down your device(s) considerably, it may have to do with your browser settings, not sure, I experience no load or drain, but the videos don't start unless I explicitly play them. (Would indeed be a different matter if they all played right away or pre-loaded all.) So it's possible to get there. (Sorry for draining your iPhone if you clicked on this thread now.. but it doesn't have to be that way!)

It's not recent , in fact it's from a 1982 film but it's only recently been released (there was a library vinyl) and this track is amazing. Catchy and infectious , it could be in any Vangelis or J.M.Jarre album of the time.
