I'd like to know what members of the board think of the recent emergence of the GDM Morricone 2 for 1 limited edition (300) CD's.......value for money, collectable or just a gimmick ?
Any thoughts ?

Thanks.

Is there a link to the two-fers? I looked on their site and didn't see them.

Many thanks.

They seem to be selling really well, these could soon become very rare items.

I haven't bought any of these two-fers releases yet.

While it's nice they bring back hard-to-find Morricone titles this way, they almost always pair two titles that are vastly different in style and atmosphere and thus share little in common. Also, I suppose that many collectors, like me, very often already own one of both titles, which makes it less attractive to buy the double CD (a number of times, I became aware of a title thanks to the two-fer release, but because I wasn't interested in the other title or already owned it, I then bought (a second-hand copy) of the older, single release of the interesting title).

Lastly, the cover layout looks ridiculously ugly and dated.

Apart from OOP GDM and VERITA NOTE titles, GDM seems to be releasing OOP DIGITMOVIES titles as well.

The price could have been better and the design more imaginative but try to buy some of these scores separately. They will be either too expensive or almost impossible to find especially new and sealed.

I have all of these two-fers so far. Of the 20 (?) scores released so far, I had 5 of them already, and a further 2 in un-expanded form, so not too bad. The sound is improved over previous releases (by different degrees) - and there are liner notes, often for the first time!

I agree the design is veeeeery dated though. The outer slips are unnecessary. I'm intrigued about the mystical box that they intend to release... when?

Thanks to everyone for their comments, very much appreciated.
I may start collecting these.

Is there a comprehensive list of these? I saw a few titles reference in those other threads but not a whole list.

Is there a specific day of the month that these are released, so I can set a reminder to check the website each time?

I came late to this series but have picked them all up so far. Novecento/ Sacco E Vanzetti appeared to have sold out but I was fortunate enough to find a copy at Amazon Italy. Also Proibite Di Una Signora Per Bene / Il Ritorno Di Ringo was hard to find but picked up a copy at the German soundtrack retailer, Chris Soundtrack Corner

Definitely a nice set and it's interesting to see what is released month by month.

So, are these two disks per month or two sets (=four disks) per month?

Original announcement said "The 100 titles will be released two by two once a month".

Up until this month there are 12 releases of a 2 cd package so it is one double CD package at approximately monthly intervals, I think. As I said I wasn't in early on but have just recently caught up.

Many thanks, Peter. Seems like an interesting opportunity to get some Morricone - which I have close to none thus far. Then again I'm not a die-hard fan to begin with. I have to think about it smile

Screen Archives says latest release, COSA AVETE FATTO A SOLANGE? / SPASMO, is due early August and it is available for preorder. Always worth checking the Screen Archives pre order section around the turn of the month to check out the latest release.
