If Newman himself is less than enthusiastic about the release of his older scores then we may have a problem.
Yes, but in many of these cases it's not really up to the composer, he/she has no say on whether the score gets released. Most often, this is all down to negotiations with the studio that owns that music, whether they allow a label to release it and if there are elements even available.

I'm afraid I started that by accident. I simply suggested one explanation to the lack of Thomas Newman archival releases could be if he's not actively lobbying for them to happen (as some composers do). I wish everything I said were taken so seriously (if erroneously).
If the rest of the score is anything like these two tracks then I would buy it in an instant. I love that breaking the code sound. It is very much a part of 80's light drama movies like this one and Beverly Hills Cop. Also the love theme is very much Newman style qwhile being somewhat different than his usual later stuff.
