  • Ursus e la ragazza tartara (adventure) December 30, 1961 [Italy & France]

This one's coming! Not from Alhambra, though, but it's coming ... via the Kronos Gold Collection:

"However, I can tell you that our next Lavagnino CD on Alhambra is indeed in the works and will probably be released in July or August - I have long finished my liner notes and we have all the tracks from the tapes and the track listing, but it still depends on the mastering and the booklet artwork which should both be ready during the next few weeks. It will be a peplum score from the early 60s with almost 50 minutes in stereo which has never been on LP or CD before. And we have also added a few tracks from another mid-60s adventure score as a bonus."

Stefan mentioned this in another thread, but I deposit its correspondence over here.

The mid-1960s adventure contains waltzes and a theme similar to Kali Yug.
My guesses from 1965 are Das Vermächtnis des Inka, Una ráfaga de plomo or I predoni del Sahara?
I don't notice anything from '66 (within Lavagnino's filmography) that could fit Stefan's description.
Assalto al tesoro di stato is from '67 & has an Arabic bank in its plot, but this appears to be an international heist movie that isn't the sort of 'adventure' Stefan refers to.

As for the main peplum program, I doubt it is any of these:

There are still three peplum scores in the CAM/Sugar catalogue which could maybe be done by Digitmovies in the future: ULISSE CONTRO ERCOLE, I BACCANALI DI TIBERIO and URSUS E LA RAGAZZA TARTARA (Kronos).

There are quite a few options left:

    1960 La rivolta degli schiavi
    1961 Il colosso di Rodi
    1961 Orazi e Curiazi
    1962 Il tiranno di Siracusa
    1963 Ercole sfida Sansone
    1963 I dieci gladiatori

I’ll buy any and all peplum scores, especially by Lavagnino.

Good guesses altogether. Both titles which will be on our CD have been mentioned in the two postings by Zardoz and slint. smile

Appears that the main program is 1962's Il tiranno di Siracusa (aka Damon and Pythias), with the bonus waltzes from I predoni del Sahara ('65).

Johnny G. already mentioned these 2 titles within the thread announcing Saimel's 1959 Rustichelli, so I'm updating this thread accordingly.

Stefan, was Il tiranno di Siracusa published by Nazionalmusic?
[Reportedly, this score was performed by Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma]

Slowly, slowly, dear fellows. Please wait till I will make the official announcement of the CD on this board. It makes no sense to do it as long as we don´t have the definite release date from the German pressing plant. I really hope to have it soon!

Yes, IL TIRANNO DI SIRACUSA was a former Nazionalmusic title.

Yes, I know about that. It was my fault. I gave away that info a bit too early to Rosebud three weeks ago. At that time I was not yet aware of the problems we would have now with the pressing plant.

I've only recently gotten into Lavagnino and have now acquired all the Alhambra sub-set. I began assembling his CDs because I was impressed by his 3 daughters having protected his recording Masters mostly in Stereo. My first presumption was that Colossus of Rhodes must have been done years ago, but apparently not. Maybe.....

I wish his daughters had his recording masters for SAVAGE INNOCENTS.

For me it would be ' Conspiracy of Hearts' . Which was there and then it wasn't, I believe.

Unfortunately, there are neither tapes of COLOSSUS OF RHODES nor of THE SAVAGE INNOCENTS in the Lavagnino estate. Otherwise we would have released them on Alhambra CDs a long time ago.

Any upcoming Lavagnino via Alhambra Records?

Unfortunately, we had a few unexpected misfortunes last year which caused the delay of our next release, but we will soon be back again. The next Lavagnino CD will probably appear in about two months. Liner notes and mastering are ready, booklet artwork should be ready by the end of next week so that the CD can go to the pressing plant at some time in May.
The score is from 1965, has more than 50 minutes of music and has never before been released on LP, Single, EP or CD. As a bonus there will be a short score from 1966 (about 15 minutes) on the CD.
I am sure that you will be very happy about this release.
