My favorite or should I say 'favourite' Ron Goodwin music in the entire film. I heard this cue isolated in a Hitchcock documentary somewhere. Has it been released or re-recorded? Please help. Cheerio.

I'm pretty sure only "The London Theme" at the beginning of the movie has ever been recorded and released.

Ahh Frenzy. And the potato truck tension sequence. I would get a job in a fruit market and strangle women with a necktie in tribute if this score was released!! Ha ha (nah not really!)

"Lovelee!! .....lovelee!! .....Love...lee..!! Love...lee...!! "

This is such a great sceneā€¦ you don't want him to get away with it, but you do as well. Shades of Strangers On a Train.

This score would make an interesting release. Did Mancini ever record any of his score (aside, obviously, from what would eventually appear on collections)?

My understanding is that the Mancini score was actually recorded and done so at CTS in Bayswater in mid-December 1971 with John Richards engineering. Mancini was paid a fee of $25,000 for the score.

The replacement Ron Goodwin score was recorded at Anvil Studios in Denham by Eric Tomlinson starting on the last day of January 1972.

Cheers
Chris

really ?wow, I didn't know it..I have the compilation with the later recording of the Mancini's main title and, even if I IMHO believe Goodwin's works better in the context, it is tremendous , very sophisticated music.
A double cd with both scores side to side would be a dream, on the few "real" holy grails left.

The music is all over this documentary as background, I wished they released this entire score.

I think in one of the early press announcements of Stylotone there was talk about the Mancini estate. Considering that they've been working on other Hitchcock titles with Universal, maybe "Frenzy" was also on their agenda. Perhaps there is a delay because they produced the "Psycho" disks and ties (originally meant to be included in the "Frenzy" package) instead of toy knives.

This being a Universal picture it's likely the tapes are with them. They've allowed the release of some gems in the past .I wonder if anyone has pursued it? This is after all the movie's 50th anniversary.

Presumably there is no music only track on any blu rays?

As ive said before, most of Ron's tapes and all his music sheets are in the Goodwin storage. Its just a question of someone paying for the process to repair/ play the old tape or sort a re-recording. Frenzy tension theme potato truck/or better yet a suite - is probably something that could be done by tadlow or similar and tucked on the end of another project.
His wife /and estate have always been open to such things, its just cost.
