Haunting theme composed by Jack Parnell for a British TV series in the mid-sixties called 'Love Story'
Beautifully conducted by Geoff Love.

Thanks for picking this out ... I wasn't aware of it. I have the original 1964 release by Jack Parnell and it is indeed a lovely, pastoral, melodic theme, flute led with sumptuous strings. Listening to this Geoff Love recording, it's hard to tell the difference but it runs almost 20 seconds shorter.

Although I bought a number of GL's albums, none of them were the TV collections as I considered the choices of themes too hit and miss despite including known favourites.

I do really enjoy this stuff, have already bought a few Geoff Love CD's in recent years, especially the LP's rereleased by the excellent English label Dutton Vocalion. Thanks a lot Hercule Platini for pointing at the Discogs links toward the two LP's of TV themes, two items I didn't know yet. They're just superb and pleasant throughout. Let's hope that Vocalion or another label will possibly gather both albums on one CD some day.

Count me in on the Geoff Love-fest. His Big Western Themes CD gets a lot of play on my Ipod.

...I'm surprised Vocalion haven't put out the two LPs of TV themes...

I have the Vocalion Big Western Movie Themes CD, and it has the TV Western Themes on the same disc, so is this one of the two TV themes LPs?

No, that's a different album. The two regular TV theme albums are these ones, "Your Top TV Themes" and "Your Favourite TV Themes":

There's also this thing, which I think was one of his last albums, but it's not great (and half of it had been released before):

Thanks smile

Yes I have this cd too - usually play it when doing the ironing.
Just to point out - in case some people do not know - The Big Western Movies CD is an abridged combination of Big Western Movie Themes, Big Western Movie Themes No 2 and Big TV Western Themes. So there was originally a lot more - including Sabata, Ole Turkey Buzzard from Mackenna's Gold, A Man, A Horse and A Gun and Bonanza. All 3 albums are well worth tracking down.
Of the 3, The TV album is my overall favourite not because the music is better, because the artwork is stunning.
Right up there with Big War Movie and the original Big Bond Movie sleeves.
I also like Geoff Love's impression of Satchmo on the MFP version of High Society. Shane Rimmer takes the Sinatra Role. He would have been very pleased to know that, for many years, my Aunt was totally convinced that the album was the film soundtrack. FAB
Regards
CC

Further to this, Love's interpretation of a couple of the Morricone are great, for instance Here To You, Duck you Sucker, the burglars, incontro, battle of algiers, chi mai.

Im not usually into covers but these have something.

Bill, what album is the Love version of Chi Mai on? It was not on the Morricone/Legrand double album:
