So here we are on Game of Thrones Premiere Day 2016, and HBO has kept their tightest lid yet on this season's production.

What are your predictions?

I've only got one I feel confident about from what little has been leaked by the trailers, and that is this: The Boltons are obviously involved in a battle. The White Walkers and their Night's King are obviously involved in a battle. Is this season's battle--which co-writer Bryan Cogman states is the biggest of the show yet--between these two parties, or both of them plus a third party, which I think likely to be the Wildling horde?

Battles on this show tend to be joined or pre-empted by the unexpected arrival of a third host crashing the party.

Just askin'.

Now pile on, all you Ice-and-Fire aficionados! Especially you novel-readers out there!

Got about halfway through last season and realized I didn't care enough to keep watching. Probably after the series ends I'll binge the last few seasons all together.

Yep here we go with season 6.

Weirdly like before, to coincide with Usa, the UK gets the new episodes at 2am tonight.
Then again tomorrow night in the evening.

I don't get Sky Atlantic (I'm with Virgin), so it's a long wait 'till the series six Blu-ray. Series five has had mixed reviews, but I'm really enjoying it, the last two episodes to go.

I've never read the books & never will now. With my terrible memory these days I can't seem to remember more than ten names in a book, & these novels have hundreds.

Recorded the 2am, watched it thismorning. Was usual high standard.
I wished id watched the last of series 5 again to remind me where everyone was!

Ha, that's what I do. I looked at the last episode of series 4 before starting 5, as I couldn't remember what everyone was doing.

Disappointing. Just a lot of talking with nothing much happening, Oh, a few killings, but with little build up, they meant nothing to me. Didn't need to see the naked old lady at the end either.

Yeh i kinda prefer the red witch rather than her great-grandma!

Surprised you found it disappointin Rory. I thought it had more than enough.
And it always leaves me wanting to see the next episode immediately!

In the last 20 years ive only ever been like that with Sopranos, breaking bad, walking Dead, dexter and the Shield.

Oh, it left me wanting to see the next episode alright -- because I was so dissatisfied!

Have you watched "Better Call Saul," the prequel series to "Breaking Bad"? Best show on right now. Season Two just finished on AMC, but Season One is on Netflix.

The Woman In Red surprised me. Here is today' article about her and her real identity. Avoid reading it if you haven't seen the season opener.

I liked this new episode. Kept me glued and very curious as to what will happen in the future.

Yes i knew about the Saul follow up, was really looking forward to it, then i found i dont get amc.
And im not paying a penny more for anymore channels!!
So as annoying as its been, ive deprived of Saul.

Good find huey. I think i preferred her seducing naked with leeches and getting the king to pump her on the battle map!!

I'm a big fan of the show (although I'm pretty clueless when it comes to having control of all the characters and places) and I thought there was no drop in quality in the season opener. Looks good! I'm also glad it pretty much "summed up" the locations and situations of the characters rather than being overly plot-heavy.

I didn't think there was a drop in quality, I just wanted more action and less talking. Like you, Thor, I have little clue who is who or what's what. For instance, that King guy -- or whatever -- got assassinated and then his son got it. Who the hell were they? I don't know and I don't care, especially not that they're dead. I just want to see dragons and that Peter Dinkeldwarf dude face dangerous situations. Try to follow it? Hey, it's Sunday, I got work the next day.

The surprises were: A) the coup d'état in Dorne, and B) the true appearance of The Red Woman, Melisandre. Everything else was the standard character survey the season's first episode usually is.

I was really sorry to see Alexander Siddig's Doran Martell get whacked by his sister-in-law, Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma).

I was really happy that Sansa finally got a true protector in Brienne.

I was thrilled to learn that Tyrion and Varys have definite plans to bring their style of subterfuge to Mereeen.

Anybody disagree? If so, may you Die Screaming!

I've never read the books, but from what I've read online recently, it seems like Sansa will finally be able to strike back after season upon season of injustice inflicted upon her. I'd certainly love to see that 'rape-revenge' plotline developped, should they choose to do it.

Born of a jackal - can you write the word Spoliers either in the heading or first word of your first post - before someone bleats about reading a thread about season 6 when, surprise, there turns out to be one or two things mentioned about season 6. wink

I predict I still don't give a rat's cadaver. It's torture porn for Lotr fetishists.
I hate the whole habbit of this stinking decade to glorify evil, back stabbing, scheming, crime and all else that needs to burnt out of the human brain asap.
I prefer the 70s and 80s where pimps were still scum and evil doers were put in their place by force if necessary. This HBO / Netflix crap lowest common denominator "high class" "excellent writing" can go to hell and stay there.

D.S.
