STARSHIP TROOPERS: The Deluxe Edition
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed and Conducted by Basil Poledouris
2-CD set
Pre-order - http://tinyurl.com/zdjrjch

Here’s one that everybody has been waiting for for a long time. Basil Poledouris’ Starship Troopers: The Deluxe Edition. It’s hard to believe and so sad to realize that 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of Basil’s passing. Basil’s score for Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers (1997) is arguably second only to Conan: The Barbarian (1982) among the most widely-loved favorites of Poledouris’ scores. Epic Poledouris!

From the bridge of the Fleet Battlestation Ticonderoga, with its sweeping galactic views, to the desolate terrain of planet Klendathu, teeming with shrieking, fire-spitting, brain-sucking special effects creatures, acclaimed director PAUL VERHOEVEN crafts a dazzling epic based on Robert A. Heinlein's classic sci-fi adventure. CASPER VAN DIEN, DINA MEYER, DENISE RICHARDS, JAKE BUSEY, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS, PATRICK MULDOON, and MICHAEL IRONSIDE star as the courageous soldiers who travel to the distant and desolate Klendathu system for the ultimate showdown between the species.

I think you need to start putting mastering information in the press releases.

Really pleased to see that Zoë's cover of Bowie's "I Have Not Been To Oxford Town" (from 1. Outside) is on here! If I recall rightly, it has slightly modified lyrics to fit the setting of the film.

(Related trivia: Verhoeven's previous film, SHOWGIRLS, had also featured a Bowie song with modified lyrics - "I'm Afraid Of Americans", in this case performed by the man himself.)

Phenomenal release. I've wanted this one for years. I'd begun to worry that the fact that the score was performed by two orchestras might mean a deluxe release would be cost-prohibitive and I'm glad to see this wasn't the case. This is truly one of Poledouris's greatest scores.

Thank you, Varese! Great batch.

You beat me to it. I didn't dare hope to see this song on the album, and I'm ecstatic to see it. It couldn't have been easy or cheap to put a Bowie cover onto a soundtrack expansion, so I appreciate whomever it was at VS who went through the paperwork to do it.

Happy to see the "End Titles" included. I worked in a movie theatre during the tail end of STARSHIP's very short theatrical run and remember those titles well — if I recall it's the unreleased bit where Denise Richards steers the ship for the first time (which is actually "Carmen's Shuttle Ride", also included.)

Agreed! I actually came here to inquire about that.

The back cover of the new Volcano DE tells us it was produced by Nick Redman, with track assembly by Neil Bulk & Mike Matessino and was received final mastering by Dan Hersch

But for Starship Troopers, neither the back cover nor the press release tells us anything about the new product.

Mr. Peter Hackman, could you please let us know who worked on this new release?

The back cover only mentions one orchestra (The Hollywood Studio Symphony).

Awesome. I hope "Condiucted by" does not appear on the final cover.

The alternate "Bugs" cue is this, right?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V1HS0KradY

Having seen the movie, I can't believe they changed it. Assuming the alternate on CD two is one and the same, it's a kick-ass cue and a fantastic piece of film scoring. It probably worked gangbusters in the film.
