I think that Morricone score was recorded for a TV Documentary in 1964.... but I'm just guessing ?

It seems to be rather 1971 instead of 1977:

"Titolo La scoperta dell'America / di Cesare Pascarella ; raccontata da Luigi Proietti e dai burattini di Otello Sarzi ; sceneggiatura Sergio Giordani ; scene e costumi di Bonizza ; musiche originali Ennio Morricone ; montaggio Raimondo Cruciani ; regia Sergio Giordani
Pubblicazione [S.l.] : Rai, 1971
Descrizione fisica 1 videocassetta (VHS) (ca. 90 min.) : color., son
Note generali
· Tit. dal documento
· Interpreti: Pippo Franco, Giovanni Nuvoletti...et al
· Realizzazione Produzioni Z."

The RAI TV movie was apparently broadcast in July 1971:

"La scoperta dell'America
Di cesare Pascarella - un film scritto e diretto da Sergio Giordani
Con: Luigi Proietti, Pippo Franco, Giovanni Nuvoletti, Loredana Solfizi
Scene e Costumi: Bonizza
Regia: Sergio Giordani
Una produzione RAI realizzata dalla Produzione Z

01/07/1971"

From Morricone fans web site

The reply from Austria friend Mr. Michael Caletka on June 18, 2015
This error (1961) was reprinted in 1990 by the filmography; the movie is from 1977
1961 data is wrong, the film released in 1977
1) Alla scoperta dell America - where does 1961 come from?

Provided the before the any Chronology WAS Long AN Official Site or by Book, there have have been at The fans.
At The Movie here Wallpaper IS ON A Documentary How Columbus Discovered America in 1492. That WAS Docu Shown only in Italian-TV, and propably only Once, SO IT was not much known In 1986 the first book with a filmography ever appeared:.. Hommage au Maitre Ennio Morricone by Jean Lhassa Obviously he could not find more information on this move but the title (which alone is a great effort), and gave it the year 1961 -. the earliest year in the filmography This error was reprinted in 1990 by the filmography published by Martin van Wouw Simply because no further information could be obtained from that time on the error has been copied from one filmography to another.. .

This was until in 2006 we got a CD with the music of the film. Now in the liner notes it is clearly said, that the movie is from 1977 and I guess we can rely on that information. Laurent is in a way right too, when he states that "the music itself does not sound 1961, but is clearly 1977". If one is as acquainted with Morricone's work as Laurent (and has the musical ability), he clearly can identify according to the orchestration and arrangement-style , from when the music must derive. (He may not have been polite, but he has a point.)

I'd trust the 1971 entries reported by Stefan Schlegel before the 1977 date, which is the only scrap of information about the film mentioned on the Samiel CD -- even if Samiel got the date from General Music.

Alla scoperta dell'America is mentioned under the director's name at www.wikipedia.it as part of a series. The director Sergio Giordani also directed L'uomo e la magia (Mysticae on the Cometa label), so there is another connection between Giordani and Morricone.

The music of Alla scoperta dell'America is witty and offbeat, not exactly what one would expect from "The Discovery of America".

The forum of information is something about It related stuff that i am not able to get because this is not my area of interest. You have to learn through http://www.entwicklers.org/clients/ as it was really good for me and the rest of the community as well. You can walk through this.
