I saw both parts of the play over the weekend. I was aware that Imogen Heap would be composing the score, but I was surprised to hear the play littered with variations on songs taken from "Speak for Yourself", "Ellipse" and "Sparks". I wasn't disappointed by this, because the songs she has chosen to include (instrumental and often simplified versions of tracks from her albums) fit beautifully with the play. This is no musical, and any convoluted original underscoring would distract from the action on stage, so I was largely impressed with her input. She gives an interview alluding to this information here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/36933580/harry-potter-play-music-isnt-ready-for-album-release

Finally getting round to spinning this one. Like the above folks, any other opinions on this work, or has anyone actually SEEN the thing? (I'm a yank, so it ain't in the cards....). I like Heap, have all her albums but haven't memorized every song. I recognize faint familiar bits as noted above, by Rob,here and there. I'm sure HP Cursed Child will not be a popular thing here since there is nary a William's symphonic flourish in sight, and its definitely an unusual move. Suite one feels like a hyper early 00's Thomas Newman score with a bit of Enya's semi active writing in there. Nicely packaged project, still playing through the lengthy 78min album currently, but certainly give it a rec based on suite 1 so far...apparently much work went into distilling the 2 1/2 hr score for the 5 he project into 78mins! It shows.
