I didn't see this coming, but Christopher Lennertz and Alan Menken have teamed up on the Seth Rogan comedy SAUSAGE PARTY, and have created a beautiful, big orchestral score. The main theme song "The Great Beyond" is infectiously catchy and this great melody is injected into a number of the instrumental cues. Highly recommended!
How about a sausage party for the holiday weekend? Seriously, I still love this score. The complexity of the writing is so impressive. I wish Lennertz had more opportunities like this. And yes, the song is crazy and ridiculously vulgar, but hilarious. Broxton's review is dead-on.
