Exciting news!

So just to clarify the possibilities for this brand new release series: from the description, it seems it will only feature reissues or premieres; no expansions (which would stay under the Deluxe Edition line), correct?

Good question... doesn't this also cover the same ground as limited edition series or it is supposed to be devoted to much older titles than that?

What about:

ELMER BERNSTEIN: Funny Farm, I Love You Alice B. Toklas, One Day in Dallas, Five Days One Summer, Meatballs, Captains and the Kings, The Amazing Mr. Blunden, Where's Jack?, Thoroughly Modern Millie, A River Runs Through It

MAURICE JARRE: Young Doctors in Love, Great Expectations, Enola Gay

JOHN MORRIS: Life Stinks, Ironweed, Silent Movie, Twelve Chairs

MARVIN HAMLISCH: Take the Money and Run, Seems Like Old Times, Little Nikita

LALO SCHIFRIN: Love and Bullets

if some more recent titles can also be included then:

MARCO BELTRAMI: Don't be Afraid of the Dark, Repo Men, xXx 2, Cursed, True Story, Angel Eyes, Walking Across Egypt, David and Lisa, Tuesdays with Morrie, My Soul to Take, The Eye, Captivity, The Invisible, Dracula 2000, The Faculty, Highway 395

THEODORE SHAPIRO: Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Dodgeball, Arthur, One Chance, The Big Year, The Girl in the Park

PATRICK DOYLE: Main Street, Enchanted Kingdom 3D, Sir Billi, Jekyll + Hyde

DANNY ELFMAN: Family Man, Nacho Libre

JAMES NEWTON HOWARD: King Ralph, Flatliners, My Girl, Pretty Woman

CLIFF EIDELMAN: My Girl 2, Open Window

etc...

Promising news, but it should be interesting to know what kind of scores we can ask for (from which catalogues or studios or labels etc)... and where : in this newly created thread or directly to Varese ?

An older Varese gem that I would like to see in this series:
The Fourth Man (de Vierde Man) by Loek Dikker

Do we dare hope for these to finally get their official digital due?

Maybe this is the place to ask this rhetorical question:

With a new series called, "We Hear You," can Varese start putting up sample cues? If you really want people to discover new music...maybe a taste of it would help seal the deal?

Pretty please?

I know it's been re-released by Prometheus with Cherry 2000, but I'd really like a reissue of Basil's No Man's Land with its cool original cover. For unreleased scores. But may be it will appear as a Varese Encore someday.

Please good heavens no. This is a GREAT score and the Varese album for it is nonsense, missing at least half the score and slapped together in baffling order. Let ANYONE else handle this one!

Ditto for their Peter Bernstein EWOK scores: Marvelous music and handled terribly on LP.

If people are using this thread to dump all of their wishlists... I might as well add the suggestion of Conti's ROCKY BALBOA (2006). A very brief (no more than 40 minutes, I'm sure) score that retreads a lot of old ground, thematically, but the piano is just divine!
I know the other four Conti 'Rocky' films have great music, but that one is my favorite! A shame that none of it was on the original soundtrack album (which was just a compilation of various Rocky music hits).

music you missed…We Hear You!

I missed Ghostbusters. smile

Some folks missed Stargate and Matrix.

Take as much time as you need Varese, I'll just keep buying all the other great stuff you're putting out. Next up for me is Abzu. wink

The Matrix absolutely is due a reissue. Would not mind having that to accompany my LLL Reloaded and Revolutions expansions. Would not mind it one bit.

I am going to assume these are mastered from the original album tapes and not a vinyl source.

Interesting concept. I will not list any titles, like all the above posts, but I will ask, jewel case or cardboard sleeve?

All right, so since this seems to be a thread about requesting stuff .... wink

I would like to throw out the following suggestions:

Raggedy Man. This is an old club release from 1990 or 1991 (I believe) and I would love to have a copy.

MacArthur. And older MCA title that Varese put out back in the dark ages. One I missed.

Lionheart. I would love a remastered 2CD set with improved sound. The older releases are kind of tinny.
