I currently only have the single disc Animex release featuring selections from all three films, so getting this release is a no brainier.

Cinema-Kan has really been on a roll for the past year. So many great Masaru Sato scores, and their release of Hajime Kaburagi's score to Karate Wars was a hoot.

I have the earlier 2-CD release of all three of the scores, and highly recommend this. Magnificent music. Ifukube was suitably inspired by these fabulous movies and really outdid himself on the music.

Love these scores. I had the Tokuma 3-CD box set (http://www.godzillamonstermusic.com/majinbox.htm) with the dialogue/sfx on every other track but sold it after snagging a copy of the single-disc Nippon Columbia release (http://www.godzillamonstermusic.com/majin.htm), which has almost as much music as the Tokuma set but without all the chatter and clatter. I picked up the Animex CD as well, out of curiosity, but was rather disappointed with the sound quality. Cool cover art, though.

Needless to say, I'm really stoked for this new Cinema-Kan release.

I also recommend that anyone who hasn't seen these films see them, especially the first one (DAIMAJIN) and the one where he arises out of the lake.

This will be a great release. Some of Ifukube's finest film music.

It has arrived and is terrific. Sound quality is good but obviously since it was recorded in the 1960s with that recording technology, it isn't going to be like today's sonic awesomeness. That said, it's nice not to have sound FX on the music tracks and the low end certainly has more presence.

Nice to have the complete recordings as I only got the single disc that came out a few years ago that had a smattering of tracks from all three films.

I'm about halfway through the first disc. It's great. The package itself is excellent with a double CD jewel case and a nice booklet with terrific stills from the films. My package also came with a small poster from Logan and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which is nice.

The only real drawback is the tracks and liner notes are all in Japanese kanji so unless you read this, you won't benefit from the details contained within the lengthy booklet.

some photos of the CD package below:

You all convinced me to get this even though I had picked up and listened to the single-disc edition not too long ago, probably when this was first announced. Just got it in the mail yesterday and it's a lovely package. My daughter is studying Japanese so I'm hoping she can read some of the writing. (Haven't had a chance to listen yet, but great to hear it sounds better than the single-disc version.)

Kudos to Ark square.
I just ordered this wonderful 3 disc set from Cinema -Kan but apparently there is no regular international postage to Australia due to the pandemic. Ark offered to ship it via DHL at an extra $2.00. I recieved it in 4 days!

Great set this. Im only now, after all this time discovering what a great composer Ifukube was.
Anyway great customer service and a huge thanks to Ark Square.

ARK is wonderful – if they don't have an older title in stock, they'll go the limit and hunt a used one down for you if they can find it, then let you know your options before you've even asked.

The DAIMAJIN set is crammed with great Ifukube. It's only in the past five years that I've discovered Ifukube and Masaru Sato's work on CD. Cinema-Kan's efforts to re-release and expand seminal works by these remarkable composers and others keep their music alive to be discovered by those like us.

I'm glad to see more people discovering Ifukube. He's my favorite composer for good reason.

The Daimajin set is indeed excellent. Cinema-kan did an excellent job with the scores considering that the tapes were in bad shape. One cue from the first score, DB 19, is lost for good. In addition, some final takes from the first two scores are also lost. These were pulled directly from the films' audio tracks and were included as bonus tracks on the set.

Cinema-kan is an excellent label, releasing some of the highest quality film music releases I've seen. They quickly became my favorite film music label. As of now, I own thirty-seven of their releases.
