Watching the last GHOSTBUSTERS movie made me reflect on the "himbo," the male equivalent of the "bimbo". He is good-looking, dumb and should be funny.
But Chris Hemsworth was only barely funny, making me think either he didn't do a good job (a possibility) or the part was not well-written (the bigger possibility, to my mind).
...that this thread will degenerate into a discussion of the wrong type, the one who was dumb and perhaps funny, but NOT pretty, like Mike Mazurki (left).
In Emperors New Groove he's a typical dim witted character. In Ghostbusters he's retarded. So yes poorly written and directed. (though I think it was on purpose by the retarded director)
Was there any "pretty" in there? 'Cause I'm not seein' it.
Did you watch Seinfeld? Elaine dates a new guy she thought had a gorgeous face. George tries to befriend him so he can hang out with a cool guy. Her BF and George end up going rock climbing. George offers him a sandwich while scaling the side of a cliff and accidentally lets go of the rope and he falls. Elaine's first reaction to his injuries was, "Is his face okay?" This video is the aftermath of those events.
Check out.. Gone To the Dogs, its a BBC comedy drama over 3 episodes in 1991.. Warren Clarke is in it, he's a solid actor, Harry Enfield's is a useless actor, but, he actually does well in this, that it really surprised me.
Harry Enfield & chums is also ok.. his best role in chums.. is Leslie Norris the mad barmen.
