I have learned, via his sister-in-law, that former FSM member Robert Eastman passed away on March 25. I don't have any details. She posted to his FB wall of photo of herself and Bob in his memory.
Ah, OK. Well, RM Eastman certainly had his opinions, and I most often disagreed with him or the way he phrased his viewpoints. But I'm very sorry to hear he's passed away. I had no idea about his predicament. I believe he had a medical profession of some sort.
Bob's generous nature was fueled by his love for film music, especially Goldsmith's. He once sent us a sealed copy of the FSM Dr. Kildare set, and Holly sent him a batch of homemade cookies. He could be cantankerous on this board at times, but he was always very kind in personal correspondences.
He had strong and consistent opinions, and while we rarely saw eye to eye, I would say that this thread deserves to be on the film music side of the board. Condolences to family and friends.
It's always a bit of a shock when we learn that the inevitable has happened to "one of us". RM Eastman - that's a name I saw here very frequently. He was posting just back at the end of January, enthusing about the release of THE RED PONY/ THE HEIRESS. I'm saddened.
Condolences to friends and family.
P.S. - I don't know if what I'm going to write is a good idea or not. I was never very good at protocol. Anyway, as it's doubtful that any of Mr Eastman's family are actually looking here, would it be possible (I'm particularly addressing Ron, as the OP) to put a short message on FB, just to say that we send our condolences?
