Don't understand how that's irony...a beloved character got a fantastic musical sendoff!

That's not what irony is.

I haven't read all this thread fully yet, to avoid spoiling any possible surprises, as I slowly but surely navigate my way through series 2, but I have to say it's easily my favourite thing on the telly at the moment.
It's fun to read the early pages of this thread, and the scathing reviews the show first got, which everybody assumed would see the series cancelled mid-season.
Now we await series 3 AND volume 2 of the soundtrack CD collection.
I also never thought I'd enjoy ANYTHING by Seth MacFarlane, after everything I've viewed by him prior, but there ya go.
I love the new, but reassuringly familiar, music scores that arrive at my ears every time I watch a new episode.

Can't help but wonder if this is going to be the start of a trend, considering that Disney now owns controlling interest in both 20th Century Fox Television and Hulu, but not Fox Broadcasting.

I have a feeling this may be good news, though. I could easily see this show lasting quite a bit longer as a streaming series instead of on a broadcast network.

I'm not going to invest in Hulu just to watch The Orville, but I will buy a season2 soundtrack when it is available.

Me neither, this news sucks!

One of the nice things about streaming services like Hulu is that there is no commitment, so you can start and stop them as you wish. If you really want to see the show, just wait until all episodes have been released, subscribe for one month, and watch the whole season for $6. If you've never subscribed to Hulu before, you probably can even get a one month free trial.

God knows what channel in the UK will show series 3 now?
Hopefully still the Fox Channel (not even sure we have a Hulu in the UK).
It's all getting a bit silly now with this multi-channel/streaming service B.S.
No wonder many people just watch things on the Good Ship Jolly Roger.

I'm not paying for Hulu either. But then again, I only pay for own physical copies of stuff.

I guess that means we won't get an episodes on FOX.com to watch. So, I won't be linking to it for people to see in my season three reviews and will probably be replying on some awful cropped, flipped and reduced quality load somewhere. And if I can't find that, I won't be able to watch the show at all.

Yeah instead of paying $200 a month for cable, we'll have to pay $200 a month for 15 different streaming services. There's a reason ppl were cutting cable like crazy, no on can afford it!

Or you can pay $5-20 per month for 1 or 2 services until you've watched the shows you want to see and then switch to another service. If you are paying as much or more for streaming services as you did for cable, then you don't understand how they work.

With cable there were generally no ala-carte offerings and starting or stopping services required scheduling appointments to have someone come out to the house or driving to the cable company's offices. Starting and stopping streaming services is essentially frictionless.

I guess I don't understand how it works. But honestly it sounds like to much work signing up and canceling services every few months, even if (and I know) it can be done in minutes in your online accounts. Feels like I'll need a flow chart to keep track of everything I want to watch on each streaming service. I don't binge watch either. In the immortal words of Murtaugh, "I'm to old for this sh*t".

To put another nail in the coffin of the series -- two leads are divorcing:

I looked at them and I just didn't see it, but assumed maybe there was a deeper connection. But I did -- in nothing more than my personal opinion! -- think there were some odd looks between her and Seth on the show.

Wow... I guess they should have tried just dating for a little while longer!

Not that its any of my business (didn't even know they were having a relationship) but I just don't see it either. Don't these celebs marry each other for publicity reasons?
