Any ideas about what UNRELEASED Williams music will appear on this disc?

Well its mostly Concert versions of themes and some of them would be first time premieres. Other than that if we get The FORCE AWAKENS suite that contains new concert versions on cd for the first time. Plus the aforementioned on another thread as 'Men of York Town' March from MIDWAY and 'Night Journeys' from DRACULA -All new extended concert versions. Also 'Stargazers' the new revised concert version of 'ET & Me' from E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL (Post edited)

Here is what was conducted on April 7-8th recordings:

It also shows it at 'various composers' and as 'chamber music'.

I would say early details on the Amazon page. But it is THE album.

No unreleased music at all, but as Amer says -- some concert version premieres might happen!

Is "Theme from The Patriot" the signature edition arrangement?

Is "Theme from The Patriot" the signature edition arrangement?

Not exactly. As I recall (I was at the April 7 concert; in fact that's my program pic Amer posted above!) they played virtually the entire OST version (but with the opening pastoral melody played by the entire violin section rather than a solo), but then, as the brass-led melody was winding down towards the end, they jumped to the Signature Edition version somewhere around measure 106 (if you have the Signature Edition score), when the piccolo theme enters, and leads to a reprise of the battle theme music, and then to a rousing ending. I guess they didn't want to end on a fade-out as the OST track does.

I should also mention that of the concert program above, Lockhart specifically said that the Superman, Harry Potter, Raiders, and Star Wars selections were NOT recorded for the album. They showed video montages during those pieces.

Sorry for not crediting the link to you Mark as I got it off from the JWFAN.net forum.

I think Lockhart has already recorded selections from Star Wars, Harry Potter etc. Probably using a different recordings of the concert. The BSO brochure did mention that these classic scores would be included. Maybe selections were recorded from the concert on 7th April.

I sure hope SLEEPERS is in it. Always loved that score and especially the last track. So moving.

Mine too, DMD. I'am sure it will be there.

The various press releases about the concerts and recording have been rather vague as to what will or will not be included (whether it will include the "hits" or just the "lesser-known" works). Apparently the music from Dracula, Midway, and The Force Awakens were all recorded last year...all I know for sure is that on April 7, Keith Lockhart specifically told the audience that the Superman, HP, Raiders, and Star Wars music was NOT being recorded for the album. I would imagine the April 8 concert was identical, since the program list was the same (although I believe another user at JWFan was at the April 8 concert and said that the Chamber of Secrets track was skipped for some reason. They did play it on April 7.)

I pray to the film score God that there are as few "hits" as possible.

I pray to the film score God that there are as few "hits" as possible.

1. Theme from The Towering Inferno
2. Theme from Heidi
3. Stargazers from ET
4. The Devil's Dance from The Witches of Eastwick
5. Theme from The Patriot
6. Goodbye, Mr. Chips
7. Reunion and Finale from Sleepers
8. Love Theme from Sabrina
9. Viktor's Tale from The Terminal
10. Night Journeys from Dracula
11. Men of the Yorktown March from Midway
Suite from Star Wars: The Force Awakens
12. March of the Resistance
13. Rey's Theme
14. Scherzo for X-Wings
15. The Jedi Steps and Finale

That's more-or-less what is generally known about the musical selections at this point, although that track order was entirely random by me. If that's what's there, I'll be happy with it!

I hope those are the tracks. That's a good selection, with E.T. and Force Awakens being the only real "hits" selections, although it seems both will be concert versions we haven't heard on CD before.

I, too, love the last track from Sleepers. The only music in the above list I haven't heard is Goodbye, Mr. Chips. I've yet to see the film and missed out on the FSM release.

Looking forward to this!

I'd be happy with that, Matt. Of course, nothing is "rare" for a JW nutcase like myself, but at least something like that would be different from the million other JW compilations out there.

Probably-not-so-coincidentally, Keith Lockhart will be conducting a concert of John Williams's music at the BBC Proms this year, on 20 July, also entitled "Lights! Camera! Music!" No details of what the programme will be yet.

Seems like a great tracklist to me. I appreciate how it combines all of the concert suites from Force Awakens at the end of the CD, so it's not all "rarities." Would have been nice to kick off the disc with his "Amazing Stories" main title, and also contain Cadenza and Variations from "Fiddler on the Roof", but oh well! Fingers crossed the performance and sound quality will be excellent.
