As probably the only JXL fan in the room, I welcome any new assignment. I would like to see him tackle more 'low-key' projects (like the brilliant BRIMSTONE last year), but he often delivers for big stuff like this too. If it's anything near the level of MAD MAX, I'm a happy camper!
I don't know what upsets me more: that XL got the job or that Douglas Pipes (Mike Dougherty's composer from his first two movies) didn't. Leaning toward the second.
I can think of no better choice for this picture than noted neoclassical composer Sir Junkington Xavier Lebowitz IV, Esq. I say BRAVO at the news of his selection! The future of quality film music is assured as long as he continues to score every third or fourth film that goes into production these days.

You're not alone. His 300 score is incredible, Fury Road has great stuff. Same goes for Point Break and Divergent and his work on Man of Steel.
The director just said this was untrue on Twitter.
I really hope this is the case. No offense to Mr. XL, but Pipes is a fantastic composer and this is the kind of project that can catapult him into the big leagues. He's also a super nice guy who loves film and film music. I'm rooting for him.
