Re: CD vs CDr.

Now I am confused -- I pulled out my set received from Amazon again and realize I don't honestly know if it is CDs or CDrs. When I responded before I only glanced quickly and it seemed to be a pressed CD set. Also on the back of the jewel case my copy has "Disc Made in Mexico" embossed on the plastic in red. I assumed that meant it was a pressed CD set -- does Amazon farm out made-on-demand CDrs to Mexico now?

Anyway sorry if I misled anyone -- but I may have a CDr set too. I only know that my set has a nice, standard jewel case with professional printing -- not the set described by one of the Amazon reviewers. And my set definitely has separate, individual tracks.

i got the cd from amazon.uk. it has Disc Made in Mexico on case but cd look like pressed.

I have noticed cds, not cdrs, at Wal-mart and Target now say disc made in Mexico. So you probably do have a cd.smile

In that case you must have got the EU version... these shitty CD-Rs are US fashion only.

I was almost anxiously awaiting your review for KOTM. Now it's here and does not disappoint for a second smile it's a great, detailed review which does the score justice. I'm happy to see that my favorite reviewer loves the score as I do. Thank you very much, Sir!

Happened to find this in a brick and mortar store today for $12, so I grabbed it. It also has the "disc made in Mexico" stamp, the inserts and booklet are professional, not cheap looking at all. Pretty sure mine are pressed discs. So, they've pressed a low print run for retail but CDRs for Amazon orders...?

Sorry for not adding to the pressed/CD-R discussion but this is a great read:

I hear people are still picking up soundtracks at Target and now F.Y.E? I didn't think anyone carried CD's much less soundtracks in stores anymore. My two goto's, Walmart and Best Buy have pretty much dried up. I wish there were a place to buy some of these mainstream scores locally. I do have a Target in my area, I'll have to check that out!

My local Target has stopped carrying any CD that isn't a top 20 hit, and then there's only half a dozen of each in stock. The music department barely fills up an endcap on the aisle. And my FYE only carries songtrack CDs. Last time I was there they really narrowed down the selection of everything in the store.

The times they are a changin' , and so on.

FYE is a comforting step back into the 90's, it is nice to see it is still around.
I have to imagine that their days are numbered though.

I'm not familiar with FYE but just discovered there's one just a mile or two from work. I'll check it out!

FYE focuses more on Pop Culture memorabilia these days more than music and movies, at least in my area. It's actually depressing.

yes, there is a good bit of merchandise stuff in there, but they do have CD's and movies at least.
At this point I will take it for what it is.

You might not find a thing you want, but you may. And something about a space with physical media just feels good.

Amoeba had pressed CDs for GODZILLA and SHAFT, both of which are CD-Rs when ordered from Amazon.

I returned my CD-R version to Amazon and got a refund.

I was never really a GODZILLA fan as a kid, cos it was never shown on any telly's where I came from. I think I recall a cartoon, but I'm not 100% sure.
So not having any affinity to those cheesy Japanese monster flicks of olde, I never really hated the Emmerich version from 1998. It may not have been true to the essence of Godzilla, but it had a nice rainy/foggy/doomy atmosphere and was your typical enjoyable popcorn/disaster film that Emmerich did so well.
I also enjoyed the 2014 version, despite some drab characters and lack of 'big screen fight action' and thoroughly enjoyed KONG SKULL ISLAND for, again, what it was (big, enjoyable popcorn monster fun).
This one is just terrible though.
As someone noted above, there's no pacing or build-up. It just lumbers from one big fight scene to the next, with some boring/clunky character exposition in between. And man, is it long. It felt like an age, sitting through it.
And I know these films are based on silly, but the level of illogical in the chase/escape scenes regarding nuclear explosions and such is just Lego Movie standard!!
Some of the score sounded pretty good, when it wasn't buried under the crash/bang/wallop sound FX.
I'm shocked by how bad this was, having enjoyed, to varying degrees, the previous entries in the series. This one just reminded me of those interminable Transformers films.

Does the fact that the track listings for both discs are given as WTM Temp Track 01 - Bear McCreary, and that it says "usually dispatched within 1-2 months" together with dates for receiving it 12 July - 9 Aug, mean that this is indeed a cdr? This is the UK site.
