I will only speak for the Kritzerland, but you have NO idea what you'r missing -

I concede that this is true, as I have not heard the actual CD. I may just be ignorant about it.

it is a MAJOR upgrade in every possible way.

Based on all I've read about it so far, I don't doubt that it sounds better than all previous releases. Though it is currently no longer an option, as it went OOP quickly, as you might probably know. ;-)

-->Here was a double post. It did not belong here. But it was there. Now it is gone. This post serves no purpose other than to point out that there used to be a post here, which was exactly the same as the post below and therefore superluous.<--

Having owned almost all of the several releases of this score:

LP, original Intrada CD, expaded 1993 Intrada CD, Varese Deluxe (further expanded), Kritzerland (complete) and Intrada 2017 (complete plus additional alternate of Reaching Out), I still keep the original Intrada CD (for some of the LP editing) and the Kritzerland and Intrada editions with the complete scores.

Here is my take on the pros and cons of Intrada vs. Kritzerland release (all IMO, of course):

General comment: In both releases the score is complete but both failed to include the chorus that play in the begining of "The Worm".

Specifics:

Kritzerland:
The pros:
- The analog mix is superior to Intrada's, the choral mixing is better overall (not as thin as it is in the Intrada analog, on which they seem to have not added any reverb at all and not as reverby as in the digital mixes);
- The final chorus yell on "The Power" and the Grandma Jess theme on choral at the end of "Reaching Out" are mixed at a higher level, which contributes to these tracks;

The cons:
- The cross fade of the "The Worm/Out of the Ceiling" (which was also present in Intrada's 1993 and Varese Deluxe). In the movie these sequences are separated and The Worm has a clean ending.

Intrada:
The Pros:
- The alternate "Reaching Out" that works wonderfully with the additional choral parts (although I prefer the ending of the track in the revised version)
- The undoing of the cross fade of The Worm and Out of the Ceiling (unique to the Intrada 2017 release)
- The alternate mix of "Wild Braces" in the analogue mix that better resembles the film version and has that little "yell" when the Braces start to attack
- The Digital Mix sound very good (although it is a bit too wet, specially the chorus parts)

The cons:
- The sound of the analogue mix overall, on which the chorus seems a bit too thin. Some people also complained that the first 9 tracks of the analogue has some tape turning noise (?) [I did not noticed it].

I think the Kritzerland was the "definitive" edition of the score, with the best sound. The new Intrada is for fanatics of this score (as it has some "pros" to its favor, specially the alternate Reaching Out) or to those who missed the more limited Kritzerland release.

Does anyone know when this will be available again? It says at Intrada it's temporarily out of stock.

I’m also wondering as well! One of the few out of stock soundtracks I need.

I actually bought a copy on ebay a couple months ago. But I did buy THE SECRET OF NIMH from Intrada, they recently got that back in stock too!
