Just listening to it right now. Highly highly recommended. If someone played me a track I would ask "Delerue?".

Lukas and James ..... Thank You!

This is an absolutely marvelous score and a fabulous release indeed from Quartet! Many thanks of course to Jose Maria Benitez for this and all the other great releases he has put out! It makes me look forward so much to the next Quartet release whatever that may be? I have a feeling Lady Jane will become a very hard CD to find in future! Such an enjoyable release.

Now you will know why I have been trying to get this released since Stephen Oliver gave me a cassestte all those years ago.....

After a couple more plays, this CD sounds even better to me. I think I now like to bring some of the source tracks into the main body of the score. The extra bit of variety they bring to the overall texture of the music sounds good to me.

Question: The chorus is not credited in the booklet despite having a substantial role throughout. Is it the Royal Philharmonic's own chorus, or perhaps another choir? The performances sound very good.

There's an unfortunate typo where, in a line dedicating the CD to the memory of the composer and the conductor, one of their names is spelled wrongly :-(

Not bad to find just one typo amongst so much text! Choir not credited but I suspect it might have either been chorus of Covent Garen or ENO...as sound that bit better than a session choir...and Stephen did compse rather a lot of operas....

I'm glad that they put the source material at the end so we can choose to decide if we want to move it into the main program or not, rather than having to remove them.

A superb score and I also thought the film was good despite its dodgy history in parts.
Does any know what is sung in the choral passages as the words are not very clear?

I've never seen the film or heard of the composer, but James Fitz has a high regard for this score and as I hold his musical taste in high regard, I purchased a copy.

What a tremendous score, it's rousing, majestic and heartbreaking, I love it all, the complete score, the source music and the album presentation, it is without doubt one of this years finest releases. The sound quality is breathtaking and the packaging is gorgeous. All in all perfect package.

Thanks James and Jose for making this sublime music available.

It's a joy from beginning to end.

One of my colleagues at Celluloid Tunes recommended this to me about a year ago or so. Maybe two. Well, I have to join the salutations in this thread - it's a great score! I can certainly sympathize with having a particular obsession for an unreleased score this way. Mine is Williams' STORY OF A WOMAN, as most you know, but unlike LADY JANE, it's not held back because of studio and rights issues, but because the composer himself (allegedly) doesn't want it out.

One could argue that the discrete drum kit backdrop is a bit cheesy, but I've grown up with Alan Parsons, LSO Plays Classic Rock and those kinds of albums, so it's no big deal to me. I love it.

I've removed the film version tracks in my iTunes import, and just have the album version for maximum listening experience. Curious to check out Oliver's other work now, especially that LOTR audiobook thingie (has it ever been released outside the audiobook, on its own?).

I'd forgotten that the music was only available as part of the audio play. But if the final Return of the King segment is available for £10 and it comes with the music CD then it may be worth the purchase.
