Immensely beautiful cover art!

Knowing La-La-Land it will be an exquisite release.

But i would like to know the tracklist and what I can expect from the additional runtime, if it´s not too much trouble.

I have no idea if it's possible, but I would love it if this featured Williams' original "Botanicus" music for the Universal Studios E.T. Ride.

Film version of the finale at last?

The OST LP released in 1982 has always had the film version of the finale. The final track of that album is literally the exact same takes and edit of music from the finale of the film throughout, just with an extra horn overlay at around 12:42 for the line "I'll be right here" that wasn't used in the film.

The 1996 and 2002 CD versions don't feature the horn overlay there, but also don't feature the "Steven's Fix" insert for the "Ouch" scene at around 11:00ish, opting for the cue as Williams' originally conceived it instead (which is also the version he conducts in concerts).

I just finished gushing in the Close Encounters thread and then saw this. Completely thrilled beyond words, because I know we will get something special from LLL. What a wonderful time to be a John Williams fan with these remastered releases of some of his finest work AND a new Star Wars score just around the corner. Couldn't be more thrilled.

I vaguely remember from previous posts that there was a number of corrections/missing pieces of music/edits made to previous editions. I seem to recall thinking that it would maybe take a 3-disc release to grab everything that the completists (like myself0 clamor for. Yet, this is a 2-disc release. I wonder if anything will be missing.

ET is not that long of a score; It's actually short enough to entirely fit on one disc. Then of course the OST is only 40 minutes, and there are certainly less than 40 minutes worth of alternates recorded. So no, 3 discs is absolutely not even close to being necessary for this particular score, and everything would easily fit onto 2.

I hope we'll finally have the music of the kiss, the mix between the quiet man and E.T....

Thank You La La Land Records!!
Finally we will be able to get that MCA Soundtrack in glorious remastered sound.
All of those album tracks are superior to the film versions!
A dream come true for me.... another Holy Grail gets marked off my list!
Not to mention that Close Encounters Of The Third Kind will not be far behind! WOW!!
John Williams wins again this year!!
Also, a huge Thank You to Mike Mattesino - for working on the vast number of John Williams related projects!
For me; it is a reason to live!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!

What Iam looking forward to in the film score assembly is all the correct takes of the cues as used for the film. All the distinctive alternates should be on disc 2 after the OST remaster. (Maybe some cues of takes used in the preceding expansions will remain exclusive to the previous cds. ) Followed by source cues (if any). A correct listing of the assembly was once put out by Mr. Matessino during an online discussion nearly a decade ago. I will need to dig that out for reference. But for me the real nugget is the new remaster of the Grammy winning OST album which is half re-recording and half film score recording.

Naturally, just a few months after I finally nabbed the original album. I'll still be grabbing this one though! The score's one of the best ever written.

Hook
1941
A.I.
Empire of the Sun
Jurassic Park/Lost World

Now ET and CE3K

I'm sensing a pattern here. smile

Could a little series called Indiana Jones possibly be in the works? One can only hope.
