Same thing happened to OHMSS on it's first network showing. ABC did some real re-editing to pad the movie out for it's first showing. It begins with Bond escaping from Piz Gloria, then goes into flashbacks of the rest of the movie.

Subsequent showings fixed this.

No they didn't. It was sadly shown again. I didn't realize that other Bond films got the same treatment. Apparently for Two Minute Warning they even shot extra scenes.

I do have the original ABC broadcast of OHMSS on videotape.
It is truly, truly shocking and the film is cut up as much as the SPECTRE skier who fell into the snowplough(including that bit).

The darkest grimmest days of Bond on ABC. Sadly things haven't much improved viz their recent cancelled season.

When I first saw GOLDFINGER on ABC, they cut the entire pre-title sequence. It just started with the main title. I videotaped FRWL off ABC in 1981, and it was hacked up quite a bit (the entire gypsy camp/assassination scene was removed, among others -- like when Bond rejects his first hotel room). The gunbarrel from Thunderball was removed, save the circle opening up on the coffin.

Some minor additions to TMWTTG & Octopussy:

TMWTGG, "Chew Me in Grisly Land": 2 cues segued at 2:02, 1. Bond meets Chew Me, 2. Bond in Grisly Land (10 secs are missing from the beginning of 2.)

"Kung Fu Fight" 28 secs missing from the beginning

"Goodnight Goodnight" 2 cues segued at 4:36, 1. Goodnight Goodnight (only first 53 secs used in the film, the rest is dialed out; scene tracked with unpublished 'Bond meets Andrea'), 2. Andrea returns to Scaramanga

"Return to Scaramanga's Fun House" some portions (3:00-3:16 and 4:56-5:14) dialed out in the film

Octopussy, "Bond Look-Alike" 2 cues segued at 1:52, 1. Bond look-alike, 2. Bond escapes

"009 Gets the Knife and Gobinda Attacks" 4 cues segued at 0:52, 1:16, 2:12, 1. 009 gets the knife, 2. Gobinda loads gun, 3. Gobinda attacks part 2 (58 secs James Bond Theme missing from the end), 4. Gobinda attacks, part 1 (it seems that this cue was tracked for Bond racing on the rails later in the film)
(on the other hand, "Yo-Yo Fight and Death of Vijay" is just one cue)

"The Palace Fight" is expanded in the film: 1:44-2:00 is looped and an unpublished version of the James Bond Theme is inserted between the two repeats

RobotSam, great list for the LALD album. Would it be possible to list track times, so we can edit this a little more precisely?

I don't have the CD handy (I'm at work on my lunchbreak listening to Georges Delerue great composers cd--fantastic stuff btw) so I can't list times right now, but the nice thing about most of the mini-suites in LALD is that they have short breaks between the cues, making it really easy to find the start/stop marks. So when I say something like 16ab, just proceed through the first two cues in the track and stop. The only variations on this are the following tracks:
15 - gunbarrel & snakebit: no break as one merges into the next, but all Bond fans know when gunbarrel ends smile
8 - fillet of soul new orleans/lald/fillet of soul harlem: where you want to break this track is at the point the lald vocal ends; you'll need to do a quick fade out and fade in
9 - bond drops in: as I previously said, for 9a fade this one out around the 45-50 sec mark as the bond theme comes up; for 9b bonus part not in film fade in around 45-50 sec mark (or do what I did and replay the entire track as your bonus)

I was thinking of tackling the FYEO sequence but not sure I want to. I'm not as big a fan of that score, plus the mini-suites on that album strike me as much more mixed up. A lot of unused bits in the bonus tracks (in addition to a few in the primary tracks). Kudos to anyone who can figure it all out!

Octopussy: Sequencing is simple - the whole album is in chronological order, except the pretitle scene and the main title, which are reversed.

BJN, good point. Cracked me up when I realized it. Spent all that time analyzing track order and never realized it was so straightforward! smile

A great "Thank you" to everyone who has posted sequencing on this thread. Anyone know "Dr. No", "The Spy Who Loved Me" or "A View To A Kill"?

Since almost all of 'The Spy Who Loved Me' tracks on the CD are re-recorded versions for the cd, it's almost impossible to make a good chronological order, but i used to program it like this :

1 - Bond 77
2 - Nobody Does It Better (vocal : Carly Simon)
3 - The Pyramids
4 - Conclusion
5 - Eastern Lights
6 - Mojave Club
7 - Nobody Does It Better (Instrumental)
8 - Ride To Atlantis
9 - Anya
10 - The Tanker
11 - End Titles / Nobody Does It Better

Is the track Anya even in the film? It's been a while since I've seen the movie, but I don't recall that music. What scene does it play over?

I have a few suggestions of track placement.
THUNDERBALL-I put the instrumental version of MR. KISS KISS BANG BANG(track 12) as the first track on the "In sequence" disc. It makes for really cool entrance music. Also, since there are various versions of MR. KISS KISS BANG BANG to juggle, it keeps at least one version from piling up on others at disc's end.
YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE-I've decided to place the JAMES BOND THEME after the END TITLES. It should slice into the LITTLE NELLIE cue but I didn't want to cut that track up as it's so tight. Anyway, it makes for a nice buffer along with TANAKA'S WORLD, before the ALTERNATE END TITLES.
O.H.M.S.S.-I placed the JAMES BOND THEME between OVER AND OUT & BATTLE AT PIZ GLORIA. It comes at a price however. I decided, because of space, to cut the instrumental WE HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD(track8)which does not appear in the film.
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER-You can play around with Q'S TRICK(track 11). While it first is heard in the film(and probally most memorably) when Bond discovers the recently deceased Shady Tree(right after track 18, THE WHYTE HOUSE)it could also be placed after track 2 (BOND MEETS BAMBI AND THUMPER) It's actully the scene where the track gets it's name.

I thought the title of this track refers to "Q,s Trick" of pulling all the major jackpots on the slot machines using his electro magnetic..whatever. Doesn't this scene occur before the Bambi and Thumper sequence?

What about Moonraker?

What about Moonraker?

1 - 8a - 3b - 8b - 9 - 3a - 7a - 4a - 7b - 5 - 4b - 6 - 2 - 10

track 3 segues at 1:16
track 8 segues at 1:07
track 4 segues at 1:55
track 7 segues at 1:05

In the film, track 6 is edited and looped (and tracked for Bond shooting the satelites).
A portion of track 2 is dialed out.

You may also include from Bond Back in Action 2 "Freefall" (pretitle sequence) and "Arrival at Chateau Drax" (right after main title).

Johann Strauss II: Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, op. 214 is tracked just before 9 for the hovercraft scene (combined with the unpublished Gunbarrel).

The theme from "The Magnificent Seven" (right before 7b) seems to be a re-recording (anyway its orchestration is different from the original film version).

Sorry, for resurrecting this old thread - but I am currently in the mood for doing the re-sequencing myself also and I would like to know if all these cut-lists have been verified or is there a website with detailed infos ?!?!

Best,

Mika

ABC's butchery of Bond made me swear off ever watching movies on tv!

GOLDFINGER also edited out the line where Goldfinger compares slaughtering thousands of people with nerve gas to the the number of people who die yearly on U.S. highways! No doubt, a car company was one of the sponsors.

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER cut the scene where Wint & Kidd hold hands. My how times have changed!
