Thanks for coming back to clarify, Moonlit. So it's THE EXORCIST score ( original film album "snipprtets" release... not the Schifrin rejected?) vs. Morricone's for THE HERETIC? Yes It's a bit of a bizarre poll, Moonlit. I know I chose Morricone, but I think a lot of people will be left scratching their heads at this one. A "classical snippets" compilation up against a "conventional" (inverted commas deliberate) film score, but we're basing our choice on how we enjoy them as a "listening experience"... I take it that the listening experience in this case must have at least some connection to knowledge of the original context of the music as used in the films, or at least the worlds they are supposed to evoke? Maybe I'm thinking too much. I know you didn't want this to go off on a tangent, but I've got a vision in my head of an elderly educated music lover (but not much into cinema) having to choose blind between the original soundtrack for 2001 and David Shire's score for 2010, without being told that they're from films, simply based on the listening experience. Sorry, I'm not expressing myself well. Good luck with the poll.

Besides Tubular Bells I give it to Morricone. Movie-wise...has anyone noticed how there never really was an Exorcist or Godfather remake, Rocky (though I guess the sequels could be seen as reboots or whatever). I think it's because they were too good the first time. Can't beat the original. It's as though Hollywood learned from the shatteringly waste of money that was the Omen remake (and, if we take away the updated effects, Carrie) that some movies just need to be. A good thing imo. I still get rocked by those movies to this very day.
