Guess Oblic's brain--well, I say brain--is working again.

Or, to paraphrase that dipshit robot from that imbecilic toy commercial movie franchise: "It's so good to see you fully functional again!"

224. workingwithknives in "So I'm Flying to Another State to See This Girl":

roll eyes

"Call in two months and tell her you won the Florida lottery and decided on a lump sum payment of 38 million.

Her renewed interest would be funny and disgusting at the same time."

225. Tall Guy's reply to yours truly in the otherwise mopey, disturbingly CD-oriented "When I'm old, I hope..." thread. The cutting humor, or "humour", kicks in right after the falsely-perceived Banoffee Pie-like sentimentality quickly dissipates:

"...I'm endlessly cool to the young people of a future generation, like William S. Burroughs was to the Punks of the 1970s."

"You are, Jim, you are."

226. Shaun "Lumpy" Rutherford and Bruce "Son of Jack" Marshall in "Intrada May 21 Release":

Marshall: "I feel your pain. I put my copy on sale a few times because.i needed cash. I always priced it very high cuz I really didn't want to part with it. Still have it! smile

Rutherford: "Then why are you complaining so much about this release's presentation? You have it your way already!

Marshall: "Because I want YOU to 'suffer' thru an album of combined cues and crossfades!

227. Kev McGann pontificating like a barstool philosopher after multiple pints in "The Typical FSMer...Ruminating Over Lost Love":

"I don't know what an FSMer is.
It's just a site we visit to check out soundtrack news and opinions.
I doubt any two FSMers are truly alike.
Sure, some of us will share certain similarities (married, kids, loners, basement dwellers, Goldsmith fans) and friendships are struck that go beyond the site, but when you (Jim) imagine groups or clans of Trek or Star Wars or GOT or Marvel/comic bookers sitting off, in their respective camps, planning raids and attacks on rival factions and suffering heavy losses... wink
Also, some people are private minded and prefer to keep their personal lives somewhat shrouded (I know, hard to believe in this manufactured FakeBook world).
I tend to say little cos my life is pretty boring and humdrum (go to work, sit on the couch watching telly with the missus, go on holidays, look after the Gkids, eat out with friends, play footie - still, as I fast approach 54).
It's hard for me to see it beyond the random."

Mr. Marshall trying to convince himself losing half the fan base are good numbers.

More than half of those polled were satisfied with the GOT finale.
That's a pretty good number consider3 expectations.

229. solium's evolutionary process in "Stupid Questions--No Answer Required", May 2019:

"I never understood the "take a stand against Walmart" thing over any other mega corporation. Unless you take a stand against Disney, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, retail store chain, restaurant chain, hotel chain, service company, gas company, every war profiteering corp, all of Hollywood, etc, taking a stand against Walmart shouldn't make you sleep any better at night."

solium, from the "Amazon Rage!" thread January 2017:

"I have a total ban on Amazon. Shipping rates ruin good deals. Not going to be forced into becoming a paying member for free shipping. I was a loyal customer for 15 years. They can go "F**k" themselves."

I have a great memory, which is why I am so forgiving. smile

230. Thor in "Shit. When Did Madonna Lose an Eye?", glorifying mass delusion in his argument about some thing called the "Eurovision Song Contest":

"Yes, it's just an empty spectacle. Everyone knows it, and it's part of the whole 'schlock' value of it all. It's always been that way. But it's still the biggest music event in the world."

231. Stormie in yet another McGann cauldron of rage topic, "On Line Fan Petitions Need to F#$k Off.":

"They will be stroking their crap beards at your disrespectful comments about their deeply felt butt hurt.

Anyone who signs a petition to get a film or TV show remade because they don't like it should hang their effing heads in shame-go and do some research and put your name to a worthy cause like protesting the anti-gay or anti-woman stance in the less civilised parts of the world (and some of the supposedly civilised ones).

If you feel strongly enough to comment, comment on the fact that corrupt governments are leaving their people to starve and die of thirst through inaction.

Talk about 1st world problems-self entitled little tossers!"

232. Thor finally understanding and using humor in "Star Wars, Tarantino, Top Gun, Ferrari" in which he and ado debate something about that Opie Han Solo film and one's opinions:

"First of all, is it a 'wild claim'? As mentioned, the film has received 'mixed positive' reviews. That someone rates it a fair bit higher than that is not that 'wild', is it? Second, I have no problem being 'pulled on it' if someone could phrase the disagreement in a constructive fashion, as in 'I disagree with that. I rather think it is..." or "I disagree with that. Why do you think so?", or a more tongue-in-cheek disagreement, instead of "Shut up! You're WRONG! You're a troll" or whatever venom Ado spouted out here. Third, I did elaborate a bit on why I rated it that high.

"But I've learnt my lesson, no worries. Next time I'm enthusiastic about a film, so much so that I rate it among the year's best, I'll make sure to first consult Ado, solium and Bill in case the opinion is wrong. Then I'll consult the general reviews. If it's anything less than 'mixed positive' overall, I will not be allowed to use adjectives such as 'great' or 'superb'. We must conform.

Yours sincerely,

The Borg"

I recognize quality.

Funny how most of the best posts are from this side of the board. Not much going on "over there" outside of autistic screeching and Old Italian Widow-style weeping over crossfaded cues. It's a wasteland.

You shoulda seen what i wrote and deleted!!

As you know, I'm not above including posts people *didn't* write. big grin
