I flicked over from the tennis final and it looked to be drifting away from them till the big partnership rescued it.

Enjoyed the tense super over shootout.

Still a shit sport. wink (...to watch most of the time!)

Iam laid up for 2 weeks - went to have tiny bit of dermo surgery which i thought would be over in 5min - ended up in there an hour with 7 stitches in forehead and 5 stitches in my back. So no tennis till stitches out and scar doesnt feel like its gonna pop wen i shut the fkn curtains!
Not impressed with monster frankenstein scar on forehead either. Looks like the trainee cleaner did the stitches!
But i do look seriously gangster now!

The morning after the night before!

It's been interesting to read the reaction on social media.

Everyone in the UK is saying, 'hooray, we've won the World Cup!'

Everyone outside the UK is saying, 'what a farcical way to decide the World Cup. NZ were the better team. The trophy should have been shared'

Which I find a bit depressing. Are we now another cricketing country that everyone outside the UK loves to hate?

Right, first Test of the summer tomorrow. Our first one vs Ireland. Anderson, Wood and Archer ruled out. Broad, Woakes, Curran and Stone should have enough to do the job. But Ireland did give Pakistan a run for their money earlier this year, so we shall see. Best hope for Ireland is that our batsmen are still in bish bash bosh mode.

I missed this somehow. They’re pretty impressive entry and exit wounds, Bill. You weren’t trying to get into a church during a storm or anything, were you?

England turned it around! Whew. 100 partnership between Jason Roy and nightwatchman Jack Leach, who fell agonisingly eight short of a century.

They're effectively 70/3 in the second innings, so still work to do.

So Ireland are chasing 180 to win, but Broad and Woakes had other ideas, leaving them at 36/8...

All out for 38. A tough day at the office for Ireland, but they can walk out of it with their heads held high - they had England in a real mess.

First Ashes Test on Thursday. Edgbaston.

Root confirmed to bat at three, which is a mistake. He has a higher average at four and an even higher average at five (which is where I'd like him). Put Stokes at four. Instead, Denly is batting at four.

Might need the weather to save us if we're going to get out of this one.

Diabolical batting from England on the last day, when a high price on your wicket was the mentality required. But England seem to think attack is the best form of defence. I don't.

Maybe they should go look at Paul Collingwood's back to the wall innings on the last day at Cardiff in 2009. 74 off 245 balls.
