Agent Cody Banks by John Powell.

A good score, but 79 minutes long?! Even the *cough* topped out at 55 minutes.

Opening (1:59)
Skateboard Chase (2:38)
Hero (2:17)
Cody to Duty (2:22)
Welcome to the CIA (0:45)
Silver Button (1:38)
Failed (0:52)
CIA Cleans House (2:33)
Girl School (2:36)
Nurse! (2:32)
Roadside Briefs (0:46)
Banks, Cody Banks (1:01)
Break In, Pt. 1 (1:48)
Break In, Pt. 2 (7:15)
Pool Fight (1:57)
Kitchen Fight (1:48)
Cody Can't Help (1:06)
Jr. Jr. Secret Agent (3:02)
Seaplane (1:19)
To Lair (3:54)
Natalie Rescued (7:50)
I'll Be Back (2:04)
Hero's Homecoming (2:13)

57 minutes and change.

Note: I wasn't that crazy about having to keep that heavy-handed 'Cody gets nervous around girls' motif, but there was just enough great writing surrounding it in "Girl School" and "Silver Button" to make it go down smooth.

For years I've had ripped and re-ordered a mixture of the original Phantom Menace album with a few choice cuts from the Ultimate Edition where it really adds new material that doesn't otherwise feature. I decided that I should revisit it the playlist while also ripping the entirity of both the original album and Ultimate Edition, creating a playlist in iTunes using the best of each.

I think I'd forgotten just how bad some of the editing on the Ultimate Edition actually is - it's not even the repeated phrases and the jumping back and forth in the final madly intercut final battles that grate the most, it's passages like the Tatooine arrival scenes where source music is edited into the proper underscore. It wouldn't be so bad if the source music was actually any good but, and it pains me to say it, it's pretty non-descript stuff and should have been left as bonus tracks. Given that those tracks which are grouped together are edited together, I have ripped them as single tracks, which does mean you end up with a weird mix of tracks well into double digit minutes long, but interspersed with cues that are presented entirely separately, most of which are a around a minute (or less) long. I'm amused that all of those short tracks are also given an overall heading as well, Disc 2, Track 2 - Heading: Palpatine's Treachery, Track Name: The Queen and Palpatine. Truly weird production.

Anyway... my whittle/hybrid, preserving film order to the extent possible (I don't do editing up individual tracks so it's just mixing the tracks around, as presented on disc). And yeah, I've missed off the end credits track. Augie's Municipal Band is truly one of the worst thing JW has ever written; a shame as the upbeat Emperor's theme concept is terrific, just badly executed, in a fairly rare JW misstep, but I'm guessing it's what George wanted. Tracks from the Ultimate Edition are marked with a *.

*20th Century Fox Fanfare 0:24
*Main Title - Treachery Within The Federation - The Invasion of Naboo 10:23
The Droid Invasion and The Appearance Of Darth Maul 5:14
Jar Jar's Introduction and The Swim To Otoh Gunga 5:08
The Trip To The Naboo Temple and The Audience With Boss Nass 4:07
Passage Through The Planet Core 4:40
Queen Amidala and The Naboo Palace 4:52
The Arrival At Tatooine and The Flag Parade 4:04
Watto's Deal and Kids At Play 4:57
*Talk Of Podracing 2:59
Anakin Defeats Sebulba 4:24
*Hail To The Winner, Anakin Skywalker 1:14
*Anakin is Free - Qui-Gon and Darth Maul Meet 11:03
*Darth Sidious And Darth Maul 1:12
He Is The Chosen One 3:53
*Prelude to War - The Gungans March 1:23
Panaka And The Queen's Protectors 3:24
The Sith Spacecraft and The Droid Battle 2:37
Qui-Gon's Noble End 3:48
*The Tide Turns - The Death Of Darth Maul 3:24
The High Council Meeting and Qui-Gon's Funeral 3:09
Duel Of The Fates 4:14
Anakin's Theme 3:09

PS. I assume the original album version of Anakin Defeat's Sebulba is what JW wrote and the Ultimate Edition is just just mix of what he wrote plus some tracked music? I toyed with including both as they are quite different. Thoughts?!

Wait a minute, where's that first really great action cue, where R2 is fixing the ship? That Anakin Defeats Sebulba cue is just a mix of different tracks - it seems to fit that scene with Jar-Jar fucking up everything but somehow winning.

Oh wait, you have the Qui-Gon's Noble End version on there. I would recommend using the full film version, despite some looping in the Ultimate Edition.

Pass on the first one, although isn't the bit with R2 fixing the ship later in the film? I haven't watched in ages to be fair.

Sounds about right on Anakin Defeats Sebulba. It works fine, but has some jarring edits. The original album version is much more satisfying (whatever scene it was meant to be for...).

Yeah, you used the edit from Qui-Gon's Noble End. I haven't listened to the album in the longest time. The full cue has such a great beginning.

I'm open to using that version instead... it's a bit of a WIP (hence posting it here for some audience feedback ;-) Thanks!

I've been whittling down one of those "ultimate editions" for years. It's most action music at this point, with minor bits of wonder mixed in.

9) No Escape - Film Version
10) -----(The Trial deleted)-----
11) New Identity - Film Version
12) A Bid For Freedom - Film Version
13) The Forbidden Zone - substitute track 21 (1968 shorter soundtrack version)
14) The Intruders
15) The Cave - Film Version
16) The Revelation - Finale

Running time - 48m56s
