Agree that this release on CD would be a treat! Looking forward to the blu-ray. Will the Blu-ray have an isolated music track? Sure hope so. Great film. PFK : I Don't think so. I Have a lot of Blu-Ray's from Warner Archives about 40 but so far no isolated music tracks. Several Twilight Time Blu-Ray's contains isolated music. While I don't think it will affect the chances of an isolated score appearing on Hanging Tree's Blu-Ray, the WAC Blu for Auntie Mame has an isolated score listed among its bonus features (though I think it's just a port over from the DVD).

I just saw THE HANGING TREE on TV. The film was directed by Delmer Daves, and the score was by Max Steiner In much the same way Hitchcock connected with Bernard Herrmann in the late 1950's/early 1960s, Delmer Daves latched onto Steiner. Listen to A SUMMER PLACE, PARRISH, SUSAN SLADE, SPENCER'S MOUNTAIN. or YOUNGBLOODE HAWKE. As with almost all of the scores Steiner composed for films directed by Delmer Daves in the late 1950's/early 1960's, THE HANGING TREE contains a very memorable score. I know there were a couple of cuts recorded by Kenneth Alwyn on a wonderful CD collection of rare Steiner stuff on a CD on the Scanlon label, but this is truly one of Steiner's late 1950's scores (along with ESCAPADE IN JAPAN and ALL MINE TO GIVE), that deserve a release of the original tracks or a new re-recording (although THAT probably will never happen). I just hope someone appreciates the later Steiner stuff enough to get it out there in some way... HELL ON FRISCO BAY ESCAPADE IN JAPAN ALL MINE TO GIVE THE HANGING TREE (Daves) A MAJORITY OF ONE PARRISH (Original tracks) (Daves) SPENCER'S MOUNTAIN (Daves) ROME ADVENTURE (Original tracks) (Daves) SUSAN SLADE (Daves) YOUNGBLOOD HAWKE (Daves) And yes, even TWO ON A GULLOTINE Jim

From about 1955 to 1965 Steiner's scores had a different sound to them, perhaps because of the films themselves. I hope we see a few of them in the future.

Don't confuse me anymore than I already am! How did you know that bag of cash is under my bed?
