As there are all kinds of Star Wars fans, I'm not sure what to make of that...

It’s like how Trekkies ruined Trek and the Scots Scotland.

So that score, eh? Gonna be wild

Truthfully though I'm really glad Williams gets to finish the Skywalker saga off. To still be doing this at his age is... impressive

Considering the extended suite as part of the end of the Revenge of the Sith end credits track on the OST, I have a feeling that John Williams felt that it was his last hurrah with Star Wars (as did I) and wanted to go out with a bang. I wonder if there will be anything similar at the end of the TROS OST.

Star Wars is alive and well. Internet hate does not play any important role. Disney is reaping the rewards, and SOLO underperformed because it was a lackluster effort and ill conceived. Two new trilogies are planned, the tv show is the cornerstone of the Disney streaming service.

All the naysayers just ignore the facts.

Star Wars is alive and well.

So are the Tyler Perry films, the Fast and Furious sequels, the Saw films, etc. So what?

Internet hate does not play any important role.

the "internet" isn't real, it's a place where real people voice their opinions. To make a comment like that dismisses large swaths of people in a weird way.

Besides, what we think is irrelevant, and with that in mind...

Disney is reaping the rewards.

Of course they are. There are certain franchises that regardless of the stuff they put out, people will go see it. And they have to put that stuff out; they didn't pay for it to hold onto it like a painting on a wall and they have to not only financially recoup that and the loss of the Solo film, but make a profit -- which is why they sought and bought to begin with.

All the naysayers just ignore the facts.

You didn't present any facts. Literally.

There hasn't been any SW film or score worth anything since ESB.
So, that leaves alot of room for OT ranting!

Shorter Marshall: "Empire rules!"

No argument there…

Writing.
Direction.
Performance.
Editing.
Music.
Visuals.

All in perfect* tonal synchronicity.

* or at least as perfect as the medium allows.

As I have mentioned many times, before outside of the score, I totally disagree. But rather than repeat the myriad objections I have to EMPIRE, that turned STAR WARS in a wholly different direction, may I just state that if EMPIRE had been the first film instead of the second there would not have been a sequel because no one would have cared.

Never - in his amazing career - Mr Williams has ever intended to please his army of fanboys.

He delivers what he thinks is right for the movie, not what fans think is right for the movie (and their listening pleasure)...

I agree, he may go out with a bang but not the one everyone is expecting...wink

See you in december wink

Just say you hate women, less for you to type.

There are unfortunately a lot of misogynists at this board.

Agreed. As a man, it’s embarrassing to see so many other men so insecure in their masculinity that they rail against women and people of color in prominent roles in movies.

Ah yes, the inevitable ' You just hate women! ' reaction when one calls out the feminist agenda like Disneys Star Wars sequels and Captain Feminist movie.

To that i will post some of my favourite strong female characters in cinema. The difference is they were well written and were so well played by charismatic actresses that their gender didnt matter. They were just great CHARACTERS.Also helped that they didnt mouth off in the press like saying ' The future of marvel is female!!! '

may I just state that if EMPIRE had been the first film instead of the second there would not have been a sequel because no one would have cared.

That's kinda straw man, isn't it? Starting off a film series without introducing characters and establishing the relationships and then ending on a cliffhanger is not the way to do it. Empire never would have been the first film. It was made to build off the characters and expand the universe introduced in the first.

Empire took the characters to the next steps. Luke began training, Han and Leia's relationship deepened, Vader set out to capture the person who foiled his plans in the last film. None of this would have worked as a first film. Like any story, the next chapter builds on the previous. So I'm not sure what your point is here. Other than you didn't like the film, which I don't have an issue with. There are lots of films everyone likes that I don't.

your regurgitating VS talking points and SJW
propaganda.

( Remember that feminist agenda folks! )

You assholes are pathetic.

Hey! Don't link my comment...i didn't say anything about " feminist agenda"!
You took my comments out of context.

You did talk about "SJW propaganda," which is the same bullshit.

I think the issue is how different people react to the two words "feminist agenda." I would certainly put down any racist agenda, homophobic agenda, anti-Semitic agenda or sexist agenda. I don't see a real problem with the two words "feminist agenda" unless one is a femNazi. Lots of men are feminists and embrace positive values like equal pay and equal opportunities, etc. That agenda doesn't mean male-hating unless one is a radical idiot.

I was just calling attention to the skill and talent of the women and men who crafted one of the most enjoyable sequences in the franchise.

What the *bleep* are you on about?
