Star Wars is alive and well. Internet hate does not play any important role. Disney is reaping the rewards, and SOLO underperformed because it was a lackluster effort and ill conceived. Two new trilogies are planned, the tv show is the cornerstone of the Disney streaming service.

the "internet" isn't real, it's a place where real people voice their opinions. To make a comment like that dismisses large swaths of people in a weird way.
Besides, what we think is irrelevant, and with that in mind...

Of course they are. There are certain franchises that regardless of the stuff they put out, people will go see it. And they have to put that stuff out; they didn't pay for it to hold onto it like a painting on a wall and they have to not only financially recoup that and the loss of the Solo film, but make a profit -- which is why they sought and bought to begin with.

There hasn't been any SW film or score worth anything since ESB.
So, that leaves alot of room for OT ranting!

may I just state that if EMPIRE had been the first film instead of the second there would not have been a sequel because no one would have cared.
That's kinda straw man, isn't it? Starting off a film series without introducing characters and establishing the relationships and then ending on a cliffhanger is not the way to do it. Empire never would have been the first film. It was made to build off the characters and expand the universe introduced in the first.
Empire took the characters to the next steps. Luke began training, Han and Leia's relationship deepened, Vader set out to capture the person who foiled his plans in the last film. None of this would have worked as a first film. Like any story, the next chapter builds on the previous. So I'm not sure what your point is here. Other than you didn't like the film, which I don't have an issue with. There are lots of films everyone likes that I don't.
