Very excited about this upcoming score! Holkenborg is hit-or-miss with me, but when he hits he hits hard. Er, good. Anyway, the digital score will be available for download March 9th, and "the CD version will be available for pre-order on Amazon within the next few days" (Film Music Reporter).

I listen the score, if you are a detractor of Junkie's work (I love Brimstone), this post isn't for you.

A lot of percussion (taikos, perhaps?), but really nice emocional moments and action cues (specially The Devil's Sea, Let Yamatai Have Her or Becoming the Tomb Raider).

I like it, a lot.

It is dreadful. The weakest score of the year together with Ludwig Göransson's Death Wish.

Rating: 1 star out of 5.

As I said, not for Junkie detractors wink

Hey, I like some of the things he has done. I like parts of his Mad Max score, particularly the Brothers in Arms cue. And I also like a cue or two from the Distance Between Dreams score. This score may possibly be his worst.

I'm not a big fan of Mad Max (but really like Divergent and Black Mass)

Also a like a lot The Dark Tower and as i say my other post, i love Brimstone.

No problem in not liking the score, man. But for myself, i am really liking this score, not much as Silvestri's, but MUCH better than Graeme's.

PD: Also liked Death Wish big grin

It's pretty bad, yeah. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

I'm a huge and longtime JXL fan, also from way before he did film music. His scores have featured on my Top 10 several times (MAD MAX, DISTANCE BETWEEN DREAMS, BRIMSTONE, just to mention some). But I did NOT care for this one.

Oh be quiet already. You're only happy when Brian Tyler gets a gig because you get a royalty check for supporting him online.

And don't forget that most of those Remote Control shit composers ghost write for Tyler.

Just finished listening to the three Tomb Raider scores back to back. Junk's "music" managed to elevate Revell's score from bad to OK and Silvestri's from very good to excellent when comparing TOMB RAIDER (2018) to the earlier scores in the series. While Junk got away with his tribal approach for Mad Max, he's badly caught out here. There's no sense of adventure or mystery with this score just tribal drumming a la Mad Max. Suffice to say I won't be returning to this one.

I randomly came across a video of Goldsmith at a Q and A session complaining about the state of film music in 1989. One wonders what he would make of this?

Oh man, that Mad Max was one of the worse musical investments I've ever made. I don't think he got away with anything there.

But then I'm not a fan, so my opinion means even less than usual.

I wrote a bit about it, but you can probably guess what I thought without clicking.

Aww man, I thought James Newton Howard was scoring this? Or am I misremembering or getting movies confused?
Either way, what a shame.

I think you are getting confused with Jumanji? I think Holkenborg was the only composer attached to this project?

Imagine we are only three months into 2018 and we've already a contender for worst score of the year.

Junkie (gosh how he's going to regret that with age) is good for that pretty much every year imo. Waste of time.

But hey, I honestly don't mean disrespect to his fans. I think Junkie's music...uh, speaks for itself.

I'm enjoying this score quite a bit. I like it. Not as good as Silvestri's, but I like it a lot better than Revell's.

Some really cool stuff going on in this score.

He was mentioned in connection with it at one point, but I don't know if he was ever formally attached.
