Maybe they are doing a volume 4 which includes the season 11 score?

I wonder if Disney acquiring Fox has had some bearing on these projects. Here's hoping this is on the horizon!

Chris

I had a similar worry but MV mentioned so far Fox is honoring all existing contracts so I think we're safe.

I’m sure it’s coming. Observe the evidence:

LLLCD1170: X-Files Vol 1
LLLCD1270: X-Files Vol 2
LLLCD1370: X-Files Vol 3
LLLCD1470: not released yet

So hopefully it’s only a matter of time! smile

that's right i totally forgotten about that whole numbering system. they've really blown past 1470 at this point though. we're overdue.

I am not very invested in the X-Files score but I want to become invested since there is so much available, lol!

My plan now is to rewatch the entire show. I havent seen it since back in the days, and I never watched it chronologically. Just episodes here and there. So now I am doing a proper rewatch and also to pay attention to the score. The only episode that really stood out to me back in the days (score wise) was "This Is Not Happening". That theme really stuck with me and I kinda got obsessed with it, lol! Was so glad LLL included it in Vol 1 and hope for more varations of it for Vol 4 (all though I dont think LLL ever revisited episodes for the different volumes?). Are there any more cues like this one from the show? it's so melodic compared to the rest of his work for this show. Did he create any themes? (I did notice Scully's theme with the "serenade" cue and the TINH episode theme. But was he ever a theme guy?

Last night I watched an episode called "Darknes Falls". I noticed it had some pretty and mysterious cues in it.
Hopefully they have considered it for Vol 4 smile

LOVE Darkness Falls and I hope to hear it in vol 4... about TINH... THAT kind of melodic (something I'd say kinda orchestrally dramatic) I have to say there's not much actually, maybe Gethsemane (vol 2) or Patient X (vol 3) but those are "other kind" of melodic if you know what I mean... TINH is more akin to Buffy's (that I see you like) than the rest of the X-Files regular type of score.

I was actually gonna use Buffy and Angel as example when I mentioned melodic/thematic but was afraid to bring it up in this thread as I seem to do it all over this forum! haha! But yeah, that is exactly what I meant big grin
Melodic score is more my style. But the very little (as of now) X-Files score I have heard (apart from TINH) is actually quite nice, but in a different way. It is very...random(?) in terms of notes and style. But it does make me want to hear more. wink Will definitely pay extra attention to those two other episodes you mentioned. Thanx for the tip!

I'm a mark snow fan since the late 90's and I'm listening to them since early 00's and yes, it's quite eclectic (like the show: horror, comedy, drama, sci-fi...) though, as I said, the first three seasons have a homogenous style (being the third the most among them)

Thanx, cant wait to hear more of this.
What are people's opinion on the movie score? Or later seasons, compared to the "old" stuff?

Sorry if I'm jacking this thread.

I'm more in love with the "old stuff" as you called it wink The Scores of the X-Files Series evolved over the years from atmospheric to melodic (if you want to call it that way).

Because I liked the shows first 5 Season as a TV-Show more and watched those episodes over and over and over, I'm more familiar with those scores.

Thats because I'm always surprised by the LLL Box Sets how great the scores of the later Seasons (6-9) are and these are the musical moments that I really can explore without having the scenes before my inner eyes.

Gethsemane is one hell of a great TV Show Score. So is Tunguska / Terma or Talitha Cumi.

For me the Conspiracy Episodes and Scores really define the X-Files and these are where Mark Snow is at his best. Although I have to say, the Monsters of the Weeks Score are great altogether.

I also love the Score to "Fight the Future". That was when Mark could bring out the orchestral qualities with a real orchestra of his works but with the X-Files Vibe. Amazing stuff.

I can't say a bad word about it and I just can say, I'm really eager for the 4th Volume and can't wait to hold it in my hands.

So... dear Folks at LalaLand please be kind and don't let us all wait much longer for the 4th Volume smile

that's true, though in the last 2 seasons (s10 and 11 that is) the atmospheric vibe is kinda back, especially on the MOTW episodes

I am almost done with season 2 now. Just watched Død Kalm (as a Norwegian, that was very weird to watch! lol!).
There was a cue towards the end I really loved. When Scully is writing her diary(?) and they eventually is found.

Yeah this scene from Dead Calm is one of my most wanted request for volume 4 - besides the Stiletto Scene from Talitha Cumi (you will get to that episode as the season 3 finale! smile

Talitha Cumi score in its entirety it's AMAZING

would be cool to have the rest of it in vol 4

Oh excited for the s3 finale then!

Also watched and episode called "D.P.O" last night, and there was a really nice cue in the scene where Mulder and Scully searches the lightning guy's room.

The opening cue for season 3's "Revelations" was very nice!

Unfortunately I don't have the opening cue in mind.

But in some way I think in the third season Mark Snow was on the top of his work of the X-Files Scores - it was the perfect mixture of the atmospheric and creepy sound design which were so absolutely stunning in the first two seasons combined with the intriguing melodic stunningness of the seasons to follow.

One way or the other it's just time for the fourth volume! smile

True. Also, season 3 score is one of the most homogeneous of all, it has a unique kind of sound jumping from episode to episode, even the comedic ones don't sound as disjointed as other seasons do when you hear it next to a more serious one

It also appeared as a shorter "reprise" for the final scene in that episode.
It was a bit melodic. Very beautiful!
