Ark Square in Japan are taking orders for the 2CD edition and showing the due date as December. I don't mind waiting for it as long as the widely available copies are pressed discs and not CDRs. It will still be cheaper for me to order it from Japan than direct from Mondo. Plus I can add some more titles to the Ark Square order. Deffo looking forward to that proposed multi disc full score edition. I hope that comes to fruition.
It's finally showing 'For Order' on Amazon UK from this Friday (16th December). BUT!!! That pre-order price (£44.37) is very similar to the off-putting cost it was direct from Mondo in the first place. Might be a good idea to wait another week or so, when the items are in stock, and watch it go to a more normal price (or scout eBay for cheaper copies).
My copy of the 2CD physical edition did finally arrive this weekend - only about 6-7 weeks after I ordered it! Who knew that this would be such a rare and difficult CD set to purchase, it reminds of that Herrmann 5-CD set that was released earlier this year.
"Who knew that this would be such a rare and difficult CD set to purchase, it reminds of that Herrmann 5-CD set that was released earlier this year" ----------------------- Yeah, it is weird. And that Herrmann set can be found pretty easily and cheaply now. No doubt this CD set will be available for a tenner in 6-12 months from now.
When amazon.fr postponed the release date for a second (or third?) time I couldn't wait any longer and ordered it from Soundtrackcorner (Germany). It cost about the same as if I ordered it directly from Mondo. It arrived in only about 5 days and I still think it's the best album of the year.
"...and I still think it's the best album of the year" ---------------- Indeed. Spectacular music. I look forward to owning the 2CD edition and playing it a lot. I also fancy that proposed multi-set edition of the individual episode scores, that Yavar mentions above. I hope that comes to pass in 2023.
Does anyone know what the heck is going on with the international release of the CD? The release date comes and goes and everywhere continues to be out of stock of it. I know its available direct from Mondo and also Amazon US, but I was trying to avoid expensive international shipping and import charges/taxes and thought it would eventually be released world-wide.........
And I was sort of baffled that Mondo of all companies was picked to release the CD in the first place (given how they are usually limited time-release sort of operation). I thought, seeing as how its biggest TV series ever produced, and how lauded and successful the movie soundtracks were, Amazon would be keen to give the soundtrack a *wide* and readily available release. I'm used to having to import limited edition expansions of soundtracks from our beloved niche labels, but I didn't think that Lord of Rings would end up falling into that category......

The only European site it is available is soundtrackcorner. I got mine from there. But you'd better ask first in e-mail whether it is in stock.
I watched this series a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. Music was great.
Don't call me crazy, but a few parts of Galadriel's theme kept reminding me of another soundtrack, but it took me a while to place it. Of course, I'm not saying that there was any plagiarism. Parts of her theme remind me of the slow, sad theme from Addison's A Bridge Too Far. Of course, not the jaunty march, but the parts where the theme is slow and sad sound like Galadriel's theme. I really like her theme.
I can't think of anything else that comes close to the standard and quality of the music from this series in 2022. The Orville... maybe... but that was of a much more derivative nature. LOTR - TROP is a brilliantly original world of its own.
