Based on whats popular in "main stream" entertainment, and in general corporate output of entertainment and news I'd say YouTubers are on par and sometimes way better. Just because someone was hired to review films for such and such publication doesn't make them better reviewers.

Please don't get me wrong Brother Sol.
I wasn't slighting the credibility and we, as the viewers, might place with these people.
But when I took a peek at the clips that were provided here, my thought was that these people mainly just want to be on camera, and they found a way to accomplish that.
I acknowledge that some of this is on me--I really just don't have much use for reviewers to begin with, in whatever form they take.

There's also monetization of videos, where some users -- depending on the clicks, -- can make a living off Youtube.

Which Youtube has decided to murder with stricter and stricter bullshit what is allowed and what is not allowed guidelines, that you often find out about after you've been demonetized.

There's so much stupid sh*t in the real world that is successful.

"Do not repeat back to me what I just said in different f*cking words!"

I always kind of found that guy to be a little loud and obnoxious.

I enjoy Jeremy Jahns and his reviews a bit. He's got a style that's kind of loud and firm, but in a tad more gentle and entertainingly easier to take way.

The Cinemafiles guys from years ago were pretty hilarious.

Edwin Samuelson always mispronouncing Ricardo Montalban's name as Ricardo Montobeon was always worth the price of admission or when he'd say "The Watts Riots" as "The Rots Wiatts". Those 4 guys made me laugh.

For sure. Like many "aspiring" actors. So many have the dream, so few live it, or are good at it.

Right now, Channel Awesome is all but dead. They're down to just two producers (only one of which isn't sticking around just for lolz), they've lost almost 60,000 subscribers, they foolishly outed a sexual predator, and nobody wants to speak to the Walker Brothers and Mike Michaud ever again outside of their own (dwindling) circle of employees.

...and they deserve ALL OF IT.

Alleged sexual predator, and I'm not even sure it arises to that. Clearly someone in management was coming on to one or more females inappropriately and he was told to stop. He eventually was let go long before this recent blow up.

I think the best YouTube film critic is Oliver Harper. His retrospective reviews (mostly late 1970s thru mid 1990s) are well researched and informative and he is a big soundtrack fan. He devotes a couple minutes out of each review to the score and soundtrack availability. Sometimes he errs as to which label offers the best presentation of the score (and I'm only too happy to correct him in the comments section) but his reviews are spot-on and enthusiastic. Check him out.

Pedophilia is an offense prosecuted by law.

Where did pedophilia come from? I'm not sure you understand the terminology you're using. I know people can't wait to grab their pitchforks and torches, but right now the accusations against the company are alleged.
