Rest in Peace Verne. I sure hope you and Barbara Bush and my Dear Mama are partying hearty up there! Please ask Mama to dance, with my Papa's permission of course. She might be just a tad taller than you, but she can sure cut a mean rug on that Heavenly Dance Floor!

Condolences to Verne and Barbara Bush's families and friends!

Verne Troyer played his first "mini" character in the 1996 Arnold Schwarzenegger holiday comedy JINGLE ALL THE WAY. Troyer played a mini-Santa Claus who gets punched while jumping on Schwarzenegger in a warehouse. Brian Levant directed the film. David Newman's score only had two tracks on the TVT Soundtrax CD of music from the film. Intrada released his complete score in 2008.

In one scene in the 1997 sci-fi comedy MEN IN BLACK, when "K" (Tommy Lee Jones) takes "J" (Will Smith) through the arrivals and customs area, there is an alien father and son. The father is played by Debbie Lee Carrington, who went on to dress up as a mini-Mimi Bobeck on "The Drew Carey Show", while the son was played by Verne Troyer. Barry Sonnenfeld directed the film. Columbia released two CDs of music from the film: a song-track album in which Danny' Elfman's score had two tracks, and a full score album.

MIGHTY JOE YOUNG was a Disney remake of the 1949 RKO film of the same name. In this version, a legendary fifteen-foot tall mountain gorilla named Joe is taken to an animal sanctuary in California by a zoologist (Bill Paxton) and a young woman (Charlize Theron) with whom he grew up. A Russian poacher from the past (Rade Sherbedgia) returns to seek vengeance on the beast.

As in most films during the 1990's that featured creature effects, Joe was created through the mixture of practical and digital effects. For the majority of the film, Joe was portrayed by creature suit performer John Alexander, who wore a radio-controlled animatronic gorilla suit created by Special Make-up Effects Artist Rick Baker and his crew at Cinovation Studios. In order to achieve those scenes, Alexander would often act on miniature sets that were surrounded by bluescreen, in which visual effects house DreamQuest Images would composite him into footage that was shot beforehand. In the beginning of the film, when Joe was an infant, he was performed by Verne Troyer.

Ron Underwood (CITY SLICKERS) directed this 1998 adventure. James Horner's score was released by Hollywood Records.

Troyer was one of seven gorilla performers credited in 1999's INSTINCT, about a noted anthropologist (Anthony Hopkins) who leaves society to live in the jungle and is imprisoned for murder in Africa. Jon Turteltaub directed the film, which had its Danny Elfman score released by Varese Sarabande.

Verne Troyer became a national phenomenon with his appearance in the 1999 comedy AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME, the second of Mike Myers' trilogy about the out-of-his-time British secret agent. Myers' "Dr. Evil" character introduced Troyer as a "Mini-Me"--a miniature version of himself. Jay Roach directed the film. Maverick Records released two different CDs of songs from the film, the second of which had 5 minutes of George S. Clinton's score as well. More of Clinton's music finally appeared on a 2000 CD from RCA Victor, which also had music from the original film.

R.I.P Mr. Troyer. I followed him on Facebook. I met him at a convention in Gothenburg, Sweden some eleven years ago. I remember that the chair he was seated on had not one but two huge phone books that he sat on.

By the way Bob DiMucci, you forgot about his appearance as Phreaks in the John Ottman scored Jake Gyllenhaal movie The Bubble Boy. Actually it was that movie that I first saw him in (if you don`t consider those movies he did some stunt work on such as Baby`s Day Out).

Although the onscreen title of the film was Dr. Seuss' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, all of the promotional materials for Ron Howard's 2000 live-action adaptation of the tale merely referred to it as THE GRINCH. Verne Troyer played a band member in the film. The soundtrack album from Interscope Records used the film's full title, however, where James Horner's score shared space with various songs.

In HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE (". . . Philosopher's Stone" in Britain), Verne Troyer appeared as "Griphook," a goblin who worked at Gringotts Wizarding Bank in Diagon Alley. Warwick Davis, who played "Professor Flitwick" and the first "Gringotts Goblin," also provided the voice for Griphook, but he was physically played by Troyer. Chris Columbus directed the film. John Williams' score was released by Warner Sunset.

Verne Troyer worked with Mike Myers again in 2008's THE LOVE GURU. Troyer had one of his larger speaking roles, playing hockey coach "Punch Cherkov." Troyer kept much of the small-sized furniture pieces in Coach Cherkov's office, that were designed for the film, and used them in his own house. Marco Schnabel directed the comedy. George S. Clinton's score had a single 3-minute track on the Lakeshore Records soundtrack release.

In the fantasy adventure THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS, the London sideshow troupe of "Doctor Parnassus" (Christopher Plummer) promises audiences a journey to the "Imaginarium", an imaginary world commanded by the mind of Parnassus where dreams come true. In the stories that Parnassus tells to his daughter "Valentina" (Lily Cole), to his long-time assistant "Percy" (Verne Troyer), and to his new assistant "Anton" (Andrew Garfield), he claims to have lived more than one thousand years.

Percy and Anton save the life of a man hanging from a bridge. The man on the rope is "Tony" (Heath Ledger). He joins the traveling wagon performance, is repulsed by its primitive style, and recommends making it more state-of-the-art. Heath Ledger died during the production of the film, and production was shut down for a few months. Then it was re-started when Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell agreed to complete Ledger's role. The film's fantasy premise, and some clever re-writes, let the actors play a man whose appearance changes as he travels between imaginary worlds. After Ledger's passing, Verne Troyer and Lily Cole both got heart tattoos in memory of him.

Terry Gilliam directed the 2009 film. The film's score, by Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna, was released on a Lion's Gate CD in the U.S. and by Silva Screen in Britain.

Verne Troyer had the lead role, as "The Gnome," in the 2015 horror film GNOME ALONE. Just when "Zoe" (Kerry Knuppe) thinks she's all alone in this world, an old woman passes on her bewitched Gnome (Troyer), who is bound by magic to protect his master. Zoe quickly realizes that he isn't your garden variety gnome, when he begins eliminating her enemies in extravagant displays of revenge.

Timothy Woodward Jr. and John Michael Elfers directed the film, which went straight to DVD. Marinho Nobre's score has not had a release.
