So which version of Goldenthal's take on TCF is in included in LLL's album? The mono or stereo version? Both. Wrong. Both instances of Goldenthal's ALIEN version of the TCF Fanfare+CinemaScope Extension on the LLL release (one on each disc) are the mono-expanding-into-stereo film mix. The straight Newman version, on disc two only, is all in stereo. To hear the Goldenthal take all in stereo you need to hear the one that opens Varese Sarabande's PREDATOR expanded issue. I only meant that both the mono-into-stereo version and the unaltered stereo version are in the La-La Land set, which was admittedly misunderstanding the original question. And the Varèse Predator has the fanfare as mono-into-stereo as well. So why then they didn't include TCF (Alien ver.) in stereo on this one? I don't understand. The fanfare was probably mixed into mono and then had the alterations applied way back when the film was originally mixed. They might even have reconstructed it in stereo and realized it sounded better the way it was, or that given the sonic processing on the original, a stereo reconstruction might have been very difficult. But given that it has been released by several labels and yet has never appeared in any other format than the mono into stereo, it is probably just the way it is.

So I've always loved Goldenthal's original Alien3 album, but wasn't overly familiar with the score outside of the context of the film where it works brilliantly. I'm finding this new expanded presentation of the score a bit of a challenge to get through... I find there's too many moments of low key music where there's little of interest going on. If nothing else, it gives me an appreciation of how brilliantly the producers of the original album condensed the work down into a incredibly engaging listen. Chris. I had the opposite reaction- I bought this as much to complete my expansions of the Alien soundtracks, as to hear Goldenthal's music. I liked the music and the expanded album so much I had to dig out my copy of Demolition Man and Interview with a Vampire, and track down a (reasonably priced, all considered) copy of the OOP Batman Forever. Goldenthal may have entered my top-5 (def. top-10) favorites over this.

Thanks for that recommendation- There is also Final Fantasy- The Spirits Within (in desperate need of expansion). That is much more thematically oriented than Alien 3s post-modern gloriousness.

listening to the score I noticed a click sound in GOTCHA - HELLO, I MUST BE GOING it occurs at the 1:21_1:22 at the left side on a instrument beat is this a click from the mastering?, a source related problem? or an instrument ? I definitely hear no click/pop from 1:20-1:23. Maybe an artifact from you ripping the CD? Happens to me sometimes.
