I wonder why this has been MIA for 25 years since the original Mainstream CDs were released? Not to be missed.

I remember those early Mainstream CDs, Goldsmith's Stagecoach & Jarre's The Collector, & a few others, but I don't think Harper was among them, so it's great to have it on CD at long last. I wouldn't be surprised if Intrada had been hanging on to this hoping to add the original soundtrack & as Warner have just released this on Blu-ray, they would have gone through all the elements, & maybe the music tapes were missing or unusable (it was over 50 years ago), just a guess. Anyway, it's not very often that a title from my little wants list comes up (years go by), so I'm ordering this once I've had my second coffee of the day.

...& just ordered it. $13.50 p&p to the UK ouch! Oh well, it's not like I order a disc from the US every week or every month or even every quarter.

Probably because you are getting a less-than-average (these days) 31 minutes of music.

That's a lotta clams for a half-hour CD with no extras being being released in 2018.

Wake me up when they release the original recording.
I resume to my cryogenic chamber.

THE SILENCERS from Dutton/Vocalion costs about the same. I'm sure we'd all prefer if they had bundled two LPs onto one CD, but since neither label typically offers such short-duration, single-LP releases, it makes me wonder if there were contractual restrictions.

Whatever the reason, HARPER's such a great album I just went for it.

Well, they've discounted it $4 from their usual $20 single CD price. If we can't get a second score, that's about the best one can hope for.

I remember when Intrada released John Barry's, Mary Queen Of Scots album, just under 28 minutes (I think they knocked a couple of dollars off their usual price), & there was a lot of moaning on here about the running time, well it mostly came down to one bloke repeat complaining (why couldn't he just...not buy it?). I'm so glad that I bought it, it sounds great & I could sell it at a good profit if I wanted to (its never been reissued). I have this little list of soundtrack & classical LPs that I'd really love on CD, & that only happens once in a blue moon these days, I'm thinking most of them won't make it now.

As the target audience for these albums, the community has every right to express what they like or don't like about how particular albums are handled, and some of us find value in the opinions.

Yes, & I have every right to my opinion of what I read on here. What is your problem (no need to reply).

I don't have a problem. I was merely stating my opinion on how people respond to releases. No offense was intended.

In 2015 Intrada did release a LP-twofer from the Mainstream label. So at least with those two titles such a release was possible.

Another question: Is Harper a LP re-recording?

Complete agreement here. I've paid the higher price point for earlier Intrada single-LP releases (infrequent though they may be), so I'm definitely happy to now pay less.

99%, maybe even 100% of the times I'm only interested in one of two scores put together on one release. And it creates havoc when it comes to categorizing the release and placement on my CD shelf which is alphabetized. I'd much rather have a stand alone release even if I'm paying a premium price for a 30 minute playlist.
