I'm afraid that RAINTREE is one of those films I just can't sit through, DeForest Kelley or no DeForest Kelley.

Oliver Reed was ignored. I tend to become attached to folks who are excellent actors but not considered A-list, and it is such a shame to see them given short shrift. This is one segment of the show that could actually be expanded.

I can't believe I actually said that about anything pertaining to the Oscars!

A beautiful montage this evening, accompanied by Fenton's gorgeous Dangerous Beauty. Moving as always....

Now who was left out?

What's stranger is that I swear Cliff Robertson was featured in the In Memoriam segment, but then appeared onstage later in the broadcast during that endless tribute to acting oscar recipients. How'd they pull that off?

Cliff Robertson was featured in the montage of previous Best Actor winners, not the "In Memorium" segment.

Additionally, who else caught the theme from The Land Before Time(!) during the Peter O'Toole montage?

Yes his name (and picure from OLIVER!) did come up on the show...the same year GLADIATOR was nominated (which of course he was in as well).

What an ENORMOUS tragedy for you.

Tons.

Just a few of my personal favorites:

BRAD DEXTER:
One of the Magnificent 7, and the P.I. in THE ASPHALT JUNGLE (first I believe of many to utter the line "What's in it for ME?")

ANDRE DE TOTH:
An amazingly talented and under rated director.
Films include MONKEY ON MY BACK, THE HEROES OF TELEMARK, and PLAY DIRTY.

PETER HUNT:
This one really hurts...The REAL talent behind those early Bond films. He was their editor but took over directing chores as well for apathetic directors. His editing technique (born out of small budgets according to Peter) was legendary stuff...(witness the fight scenes in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, GOLDFINGER, etc.) and he directed ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE.

RON GOODWIN: does anyone here really need to know how sad this omission was?

Eep! My bad. I must have been counting my Reeses Peanut Butter Cups at the time. Hubby and I had this little thing going for years that whoever made the correct pick for a category got a RPBC.

Now I know why the awards were lackluster for me this year. No candy!

Look at it on the bright side: someday we'll all be dead, and won't notice all the omissions at the Oscar show (will you be omittted?).

If a "Fanwoman Category" was begun, Original, I might qualify.
