The Sci Fi Channel and Steven Spielberg, awash with the success of their miniseries collabration, TAKEN, are planning another miniseries for the 2004-2005 season. Also, the Sci Fi Channel is planning a 4-hour miniseries remake of THE THING.

I wish they would do six hour versions of Childhood's End and Rendevous with Rama.

I agree Greg, whatever happened to originality? So much good sci-fi/horror/fantasy out there (old and recent) and film makers still play it safe!

Timmer -

Morgan Freeman's company, Revelations Entertainment, has the rights to "Rama." Apparently, David Fincher and Morgan's company have been developing groundbreaking VFX technology to shoot the film in a digital/virtual environment, doing all images of background and sets FIRST, and after that's done, filming the actors. I know someone who used to work at Revelations. But, he left the company about a year ago.

The last update I knew of listed three writers on the project: Bruce McKenna, Scott Brick and Andrew Kevin Walker. AKW is a Fincher regular, and I think his draft is the most recent.
