SOUNDTRACK MUSIC BOX SETS containing Original Scores from those Series and the multitudes of Library Cues written for them?

I always enjoyed ANDY GRIFFITH and a big part of it was Earle Hagen's wonderful, fun and sometimes very heartfelt scores. The composer would go on to also score ANDY Spin Off's GOMER PYLE U.S.M.C. and MAYBERRY R.F.D. which continued wonderful music.

I would definitely enjoy a box set of them like the STAR TREK TOS and LOST IN SPACE Collections that were released. Who'd put out $60.00 - $75.00 for a 5 CD ANDY GRIFFITH Set? Don't know if those prices are even possible, but I would probably shell it out. Wonder if CBS Paramount saw that there was a market for these with help by Soundtrack people like us, would consider doing it? Or if a label would go after them through the production entities.

Please share your thoughts and if these Box Sets would tickle your fancy?

We'd get a bunch of "Character Themes" to be sure, of course including Hagen's Theme for Barney Fife!

I adore Andy Griffith, series and score. I would pay Mission: Impossible money for a big box set, TBH.

I was pretty sure Hagen composed original scores for every episode like he (and Hugo Friedhofer) did on I Spy? At least, it usually seems (in the first five B&W seasons at least) that the music is custom-written.

Don’t have time to post more now but I agree with you that there is a wealth of great character scoring, with a lot of action and heartfelt music in addition to some fun comedic stuff.

I’m less familiar with the spinoffs and don’t have the nostalgia draw to the music where I can recall over a dozen character themes, but if it’s up at the same level I would probably spring for 3-4 disc sets of each...not a huge expensive set like Trek or M:I, if I’m being honest.

I don't really it would be a good enough risk.

Not familiar with either series. I'd certainly welcome another volume of I Spy scores though. But some hope...

Oh, absolutely! Along with Hagen's scores for The Dick Van Dyke Show (there was some fine underscoring there) this is a huge holy grail for me personally!

I wouldn't, but I respect the hell out of Earl Hagen. He wrote "Harlem Nocturne" which is one of my all-time favorite tunes; in fact, it's so good that almost any recording of it is great, from The Viscounts to Danny Gatton to The Lounge Lizards. Also, Johnny Otis and so many more.

How about Gilligan's Island? How about some other sixties comedy?

We had a thread going for a short bit recently on incidental music of TV series:

ALL of Hagen's TV scores are worth a listen and would be most welcome CD releases; add MOD SQUAD to the list. I remember reading Page Cook's admiring comments on GILLIGAN during its initial run.
