I think this movie will be influential in many ways, not the least of which is (hopefully) opening the floodgates for Theatrical Super Hero Animation. When was the last big screen comic book super hero movie?

Uh...Incredibles 2 all of six months ago...?
The Incredibles released in 2004 and it's sequel 14 years later are fantastic animated super hero movies that aren't based on comic book characters and didn't exactly spark a trend.
Probably the best animated film I've seen in years. It was enormously cathartic to watch a hand-animated cartoon character say “You got a problem with cartoons?” before proceeding to bash a villain with a mallet. In general, Spider-Ham was my favorite part of the whole thing (though I loved Peni Parker too, or however you spell her name, the adorable girl with the robot). Pemberton's score wasn't really to my taste, but it works in the film. It's merely not something I'd want to hear on an album. Horner's Spider-Man remains my favorite, but this one left more of an impression than Elfman or Giacchino at least. I'm glad I didn't read any spoilers in advance, as the reveal with the Prowler was pretty dang effective. And holy moley, was this film a colorful feast for the eyes!
It is a good film, with some serious animation flaws in backgrounds. I cannot grasp the reaction of the "seeing the face of the Lord" in reaction to this movie, really, it is good, but not that good.
Probably because it's pretty mind-blowing to have a superhero movie that's actually watchable throughout the entire runtime.
This kind of stuff makes no sense to me. Is it a perfectly valid opinion to not like superhero movies? Absolutely.
Is it dumb to pretend that no one has ever enjoyed a superhero movie before when these things make billions at the box office and the critical consensus on a lot of these movies is positive? Absolutely.

Ado, what do you mean "serious animation flaws in the background"? It's a highly stylized film perhaps what you saw were intentional. I don't know I haven't seen the film.

So a deliberate stylistic decision is "serious animation flaws"?
Saw the film. Visually stunning keeping in mind its never trying to be Pixar or Disney. It's very creative and daring and for that I give it a lot of credit. As a motion picture it felt like an experience to behold more than a successful film overall. The best parts are the character building, though the action is way to fast and fast cutting. Large portions of the film are a big blur. The soundtrack is generally fine within context of the film, maybe because it's buried in the audio track. On it's own the score is mostly un-listenable for my ears. It's not a bad film, it's quite good, but didn't totally pull me in.
