I happened upon this CD (on EBay) which I'd never heard of...EVER!
It's an Aussie kids film about a talking dog (Napoleon) and his live-action adventures.
It looks terrible (and the voice talent - judging by the songs on the CD - sounds pretty poor too).
But hey, there's 32 minutes of songs* and score on the CD and it's very pretty Bill Conti music, in that faux-classical style of his, together with that unmistakeable BC voice (along the lines of Huck Finn), performed by the Victorian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Anyone else heard this one? (I'm sure henry has it) wink

*the songs are all by Bill Conti too, with lyrics by Mark Saltzman. It breaks up (roughly) to 20 minutes score and 12 min' songs, but there's score amongst the songs.

Hi Kev! Yes I do have it. I got it on Ebay back in 1999. It has very pretty Conti music.

I remember actually going to see the film at the cinema. I was taking the youngsters of the family out, and that's the film they chose. I don't recall anything about the music, but I do remember that the animal scenes (ie, everything) were filmed in a "naturalistic" way. No CGI mouth movements or nowt. Just like watching a home movie of our pets in hot-air balloons. One of the kids in my extended family (he was about eight then) said afterwards, "They didn't even try to make the dogs act".

Much like, I imagine, how those rich Hollywood types sit back in their living rooms, admiring the Picasso's and Banksy's on their walls, I sat back and listened to my super rare, mega rich copy of Napoleon by Bill Conti again today.
Man, life is sweet!!
The classical theme riff reminds me of the one used for the Antiques Roadshow.
The main main theme theme is really nice and the opening song version of it would be REALLY lovely, if the vocal performance from the kid wasn't worse than my singing (and MY SINGING is BAD!!!).
It's like they tried to go for that cute HOOK and GRINCH template, but just ended up with tone deaf/excruciating. It's awful. Thankfully, he shuts up after a minute or so and the score is pleasant thereafter.
Anyway, I wouldn't accept less than 500 for it wink
