Excellent Jarre score from 1967 WW2 drama. Released on CD by Intrada in 1991 and obviously long out of print, is now available as a 320kbps, 16 bit flac and 24 bit flac downloads at 7-digital.

IMHO his very best score, glad it's available again.

Thank you for the link, Peter.

Would love the physical CD’s for ‘The Night of the Generals’, ‘The Professionals’ and ‘Behold a Pale Horse’.

Every one of these has been released as a physical CD, but all are out of print. They are all scores that ought to be perpetually available, but only BEHOLD A PALE HORSE (paired with the wonderful DAMN THE DEFIANT) is remotely priced within reason. I've seen it for $25. The other two are harder to locate and much pricier. The digital downloads are nice for those who don't have the music in any form, but I fear they just make it that much harder for a physical CD re-release to ever see the light of day.

I too missed out on NIGHT OF THE GENERALS, so all I have is my prized LP that I have burned to CD-R. A CD re-release would be awesome. It is indeed one of Jarre's most effective and innovative scores. I wouldn't buy a digital release since the LP burn sounds fine, but I would buy a new CD.

I'd buy a re-lease instantly. I've been watching the used market for this and the price never drops. And while I'm at it, another OOP Jarre score needs a proper re-release, the great but often maligned The Collector.

Does the suite on the Intrada CD merely consist of material already released on the LP or is this music not included on the original album?

It's just the material from the LP rearranged, but they did a great job of it, I listen to the suit more than I listen to the LP version. The Professionals CD (Silva Screen Records) was mastered from an LP as tapes couldn't be found at the time, I think they've been found since, is the download from the original tapes?

A two-fer CD with Night Of The Generals & The Professionals would be a great release, & I'm sure would sell very well.

The Professionals cd that was mastered from an lp does not have good sound quality. I do hope that master tapes or a good copy of them have been found, but I am not optimistic about it.

Almost 2 years since my last post on this thread. I'm still in the market for Night of the Generals. I do own The Professionals but would definitely buy an upgrade.

I just listened to Generals on Apple Music, where Horse and Professionals also reside. Wouldn’t have thought to look them up without reading this thread, thanks for posting.

The Professionals is my favorite Jarre score, and I would immediately buy an upgrade. Love that theme.
