Desplat's score for Jacques Audiard's western Les frères Sisters/The Sisters Brothers, is coming out download-only in France only, for now, on Sept 13:

No word yet about a US digital release or a CD release anywhere. frown

There's an existing thread discussing the trailers for this film, but it doesn't include either the French title or the English title of the film in the thread name, so it's impossible to find:

Desplat is probably the only orchestral composer who can make cues with titles like “Shootout” or “Submarine Attack” sound completely boring.

I saw the film today and the score is terrific, doesn't sound notably like anything else in the Desplat oeuvre (which even for the best composers is a rare achievement -- I mean to not sound like just like their previous work, not to not sound like Desplat).

Listened to it three times already. Didn't like it. I am not into Desplat unfortunately.

I LOVED this score! It's not a typical western americana, for sure.

Just saw the new CD release from QUARTET and couldn't be happier.

Also saw the movie and loved the score. Highly original. Desplat finds a way to score this film that does not sound like a typical western, because, well, it's not a typical western. The book by Patrick Dewitt is wonderful.

It is the number one thing I look for in a composer. The ability to surprise me. Desplat did it here. Look forward to the CD.

Word I am getting is that Quartet cannot distribute to the U.S. because Lakeshore Records has the rights but Lakeshore isn't planning on releasing it on CD.

So I guess if U.S. customers want a physical CD, you have to order from Music Box Records.

How F'ed up is that?

I don't know, James. If I had purchased the North American rights to the score, I'd be protective of my purchase, too.

And as you say, there's a workaround.

Now it's available from SAE and The MovieMusic Store.

I guess Quartet realized they were missing out on the American market.
