It's certainly different! Not sure there is a CD version – this was vinyl I picked up from a charity shop website on a whim :-) Side A is Viger's string quartet music - a bit stark in places but logical for the borstal scenes. Side B is Bernaud's piano music, warmer & with some jazzier bits. Wish there was a clip online to share but I can't find one.

Original soundtrack of the new music... odd sounding.
Haven't seen the film. Is this original music from the film or music inspired by, like the Carl Davis soundtracks to silent films?

The latter. The record's dated 1981. The original release's music was apparently by Otto Stenzeel, but I've no idea what that was like; doubt it's ever been released!
