Hi All,

Just listened to this great interview from the guys at Bond Radio. Hope you enjoy.

Talking John Barry: Richard Kraft Interview | The Music of Bond #015 (0-44.38)

John Barry’s agent, he has some killer stories about his time working with him. An obsessive Bond fan himself, Richard talks about John Barry’s work on The Incredibles, Bond films that almost had a Barry score and much more.

Yeah, nice podcast. Just listened to this and the Kraft part was interesting. The enthusiasm of these guys is really contagious. You end up taking Barry scores from the shelve and play them!

Kraft also spoke a couple years about other scores Barry didn't end up doing:

My goodness. I'm surprised no one here has mentioned the great news that Barry's demo for 'The Incredibles' was actually recorded by a FULL orchestra!!!
Where is this? As a die-hard Barry fan, I demand an answer to my question! big grin.

Alex just listened to this again from 28.50 to 29.26.

When richard talks about the trailer teaser for The Incredibles, he states "John did a trailer piece that was in the ball park to HMSS. I don't know if they used the piece he wrote because it was recorded with a full orchestra. I don't remember, but if you look at the teaser you tell me whats in it?"

The trailer music sounds like a full orchestra recording of HMSS. I presume Barry's demo wasn't recorded and richard was ultimately talking about the orchestra recording of the trailer itself rather than Barry's demo.

I wonder if anyone else can shed light on this?

Well, Richard's wording clearly indicates that Barry's demo was recorded.

The trailer music definitely isn't Barry's demo, though.

Barry's demo was most definitely recorded.

Sounds like the Bond Back In Action/City Of Prague Philharmonic version of Escape From Piz Gloria.

At least four demos, actually, for "The Incredibles", per the post I linked to (it didn't specify exactly how many he did the first time before the other two demos). Plus he did an unspecified number of themes.

I'm guessing there is probably about ten minutes worth of material there. If a label (Intrada no doubt) ever expanded "giacchino's score, surely we'd get all the Barry demos if possible (never know what his widow might do, I guess).

Depends on who holds the rights to the demos, which in this case is most likely Mrs. Barry.
