Dragon’s Domain Records, to be distributed through buysoundtrax.com, presents the soundtrack release of DEEP BLUE SEA 2, featuring music composed by Sean Murray (CALL OF DUTY: Black Ops and World At War, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER television series, ACCIDENT MAN), for the 2018 action film directed by Darin Scott, written by Hans Rodionoff, Erik Patterson and Jessica Scott, starring Danielle Savre, Rob Mayes, Michael Beach, Nathan Lynn, Kim Syster, Jeremy Boado and Adrian Collins.

Nineteen years ago, the Aquatica Project used genetically altered sharks in hopes of developing a cutting-edge cure for Alzheimer’s. They came close to achieving their goal but an unforeseen tragedy derailed the experiment. In DEEP BLUE SEA 2, pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (Beach) is determined to revive the research of the Aquatica Project. With former Navy SEAL Trent Slater (Mayes) and scientists Daniel and Leslie Kim (Boado and Syster) already on board, Durant hopes to enlist shark conservationist Misty Calhoun (Savre) onto the team. Calhoun is shocked to discover that the company is using unpredictable and highly aggressive bull sharks, the most lethal predators in the ocean, as test subjects. Before long, the drug-enhanced sharks are growing smarker, quicker and much deadlier. When the sharks rebel, Calhoun and her team have to find a way to escape Aquatica before its too late.

Sean Murray made his professional debut as composer for the action film SCORPION. He grew up in Santa Barbara, California where he learned the craft of film composing by scoring dozens of student movies for the Brooks Institute Film School. He now has over 100 film, television and video game credits to his name, which include the controversial television series GOD, THE DEVIL AND BOB with James Garner and Alan Cumming, for Carsey-Werner and NBC; and the deeply disturbing psychological-thriller JUNKYARD DOG starring Vivica Fox, along with the successful video game series TRUE CRIME: STREETS OF L.A. and TRUE CRIME: New York City, CALL OF DUTY: WORLD AT WAR and CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS for Activision. Most recently, he has also scored ACCIDENT MAN and THE DEBT COLLECTOR.

Sean is the son of actor Don Murray, whose performance with Marilyn Monroe in BUS STOP was nominated for an Academy Award. Sean lives in the Hollywood Hills, close to the film studios and post-production houses.

Deep Blue Sea 2? Really?

How cool it would have been if Murray used Rabin's theme from DBS 1. But I doubt he did it.

It's not really a sequel. It's essentially a SyFy style remake that was rebranded a sequel late in the game in the hopes it would sell better.

I had nothing to do with this! I swear!
(Murray's my last name and apparently father wanted to name me Sean before it was decided otherwise)

Yeah, likewise surprised to see a sequel to this. And so many years later.

Must be the whole 'shark' resurgence with either shlock like the SHARKNADO films or more high class thrillers like THE SHALLOWS or 47 METERS DOWN.

I'm a big fan of the first film (and score), so I'd be willing to give this a shot -- with expectations way, way down, of course.

Really? How dishonest! Either call it a remake or don't!

It's a shame that this thing gets a release while we're still waiting for a Deluxe Edition release of the original.

Well, I'll pass the suggestion onto my friends at VARESE.

Lets me fair. It might be a shame we don't have a deluxe version of the original yet, but its nice to see more obscure scores released.

They’re pretty much entirely unrelated so no real shame in seeing this SyFy score released.

Please do! Deep Blue Sea direly needs an expansion, and people are rabid for Rabin!

I wouldn't say the entire score needs to be out there in order for the work to be appreciated, but a 50-minute album would have been ideal in the first place.

I would. Give me every last second of Rabin in aquatic horror-action mode.

The score's long enough to fill 2 discs! I don't quite need all that to appreciate the score's goodness.

Obviously, either way the best case scenario is the whole thing being released so one can pick and choose highlights for a homemade album.

Such is life.

However, Sean did a really good score for this film.
