While the clamour for Horner expansions from Intrada has been all about WILLOW, I think this one is way more effective and game-changing.
The major missing bit from WILLOW is the lengthy snow capture and escape sequence and while it's great and will be a fun addition, it is generally more of the same within that score.
BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED is a very different playing experience from this new expanded edition.
Whereas the old MCA was about 60% dramatic score and 40% big band swing jazz, this overhauls the listening experience to more about 80% drama score and 20% swing jazz.
The new score sections are top drawer Horner too and, for me, from when he was at his most inventive.
l love this new CD.

Sorry to keep going on about this one (but that is what we gather here for, isn't it).
The whittle on this one was easy.
Drop tracks two and three and it flows gorgeously.
They are the two main swing/jazz cues outright, but variations of that music is included in other cues too.
The others flow in or out of the score proper and Riley's Cafe is needed cos it's got that cool 'phone dial' bit in it.
Aerial Ballet and Flying Lesson are the two new, standout lengthy tracks, but all the others are splendid as well.
PROJECT X, HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS & COCOON make their appearances here, but it wouldn't be Horner without them wink
This is a REALLY great release in a year of great releases.
I'll give it a rest now, but I look forward to reading everyone else's pinions.

I just opened my copy which arrived just last week (ordered after Intrada had restocked it) and guess what... no disc 2 is included!
I know they’re on holiday so I’ll email them in the new year. If you’re holding on to a copy might be best to check it. I’ve still got 40 mins of new score to enjoy in the meantime.
